I see a lot of people in this forum are on the Jays tonight. Just wanted to give another angle for those that haven't made their plays yet. The Boston lineup this year looks VERY dangerous when facing lefties (unlike previous years when lefties would just shut them down). Wily Mo, Lowell, Loretta, Youkilis, and Varitek all have HUGE right/left splits and they are WAY better when facing left handed pitching. Add in Manny and Papi (who "only" had an OPS of around 900 last year vs lefties) and there's no way I would put money on a lefty vs the Red Sox.
Not convinced yet? How about the fact that David Wells last year was awesome at Fenway and horrid on the road (to an extreme, I'm talking like 3 points of ERA). And I think we're getting added value on the Red Sox here because people are making too much of his bad rehab start (when do pitchers ever have good rehab starts?).
Need another reason? Last year the Jays offense had a huge home/road split. I don't have the exact numbers to back it up but they were one of the worst road hitting teams in the league last year.
Do whatever you want with this information. I dont post plays much and I'm definitely no Choptalk when it comes to capping baseball but I do know my local team very well and I definitely think the Sox are the right play in this game tonight, and the run line should be given heavy consideration as well. This is not a homer play as I'm just as often against the Red Sox. Good luck to all no matter what you decide to play.
