Too damn cold .....

I would miss some of them great American traditions:

* Ice cold Old Milwaukee beer
* Junior holding press conferences
* Cheney coming out of his cave to talk about his Lesbian
daughter
* Limbaugh spending quality time with his drug dealer in
the parking lot at Denny's
* "Kenny Boy" Lay of Enron fame gathering around the
Christmas tree at the Bush ranch in Crawford to talk with
Junior about the "Good old days"

Can ya blame me?

Where I live, just west of Toronto, is roughly 800 kms south of the Montana/Alberta border. I live south of Patriot, even.

Today it is sunny, and 13 degrees celcius, which is around 65 fahrenheit, I think.

Your beer is crap, though we sell Old Milwaukee here. I mean, seriously, your beer is pure piss.
We still get all of Bush's speeches, too, much to my chagrin.

Plus, we're really nice people (well, not me, but most of us.) And, generally, we're better looking and much thinner. Most of the boobs up here are real, even.

Most of the "boobs" are real ...

So that means that the folks up north that support Bush are folks ya can converse with

Well, so much for believing in "democracy" on the part of the fleeing Democrats. For those who claim to believe in a system of fair elections to then say that they can't stand the outcome (especially after all the crap about "stealing the elections, fraud, etc)...then I say they don't deserve to live under this system. I will also gladly stand at Ambassador Bridge to wave bye-bye...and CLOSE OFF THE BRIDGE for the return traffic.

Maybe with Canada's highly enlightened society (and completely lax immigration laws) they will find the same "enlightenment" the Dutch & Belgians have recently found with their Islamic radicals.

Be careful what you wish for...because you might get it.

remember that fat guy at the rnc with white hair?

he quoted kerry, then he said "as if al queda will be impressed with our soft side." and no one laughed except like 3 people. then he kissed his boyfriend like it was no big deal.

then they aired the clip like 100 times the next day. "as if al qaeda will be impressed with our soft side" that fat white guy with white hair who twists back and forth with chapped ass cheeks freaked me out. ill never forget it.

while it may be hard to argue conservatism breeds homosexuality, given the trend of jean commercials showing mens asses (they were chics asses during the clintoon gig) will and grace and the increase of ministers screwing other men.

ill never forget the fat guy. "as if al queda will be impressed with our soft side" why pick on kerry when he [the fat guy speaking at the RNC] is gay as hell?!

JDeuce.....maybe the "fleeing democrats" have seen what Dubya's done the first term and they're just thinking of protecting what lifestyle and assets they still have before Dubya hijacks the rest of the constitution, maxxes out another national credit card and plunges the rest of the middle east into World War III...

There's no dishonor in leaving a sinking ship, and the longer Bush stays, the bigger that gash is going to be in the hull of the ship United States of America.

History says something along these lines will happen someday. It may not be to Canada but it is almost a sure thing the 50 states won't be together in say 200 years from now. Maybe these elections might be seen as a turning point generations into the future.

My guess is states won't leave to join Canada, but will just go on their own, maybe forming a confederation. Political and cultural differences with the ease of transportation and information make it seem more likely we have a number of mini countries operating under an EU sort of control than a forever together 50. It will all begin if the federal government keeps usurping control, passing on unfunded mandates, and have a generally federalist view from political parties that try to turn every edge into a game for control.

Not to mention if the currency run that I sense coming gets any momentum, that could be the sort of thing that starts getting people to say "Hmm, what do we get out of all this. I live in California, but an oilman from Wyoming keeps control over me."

OV? As far as I know it's still available here. But the people who drink it are the same ones who indulge in recycled engine oil for mouthwash. Alexander Keith's is probably the best Canadian beer, with anything by Sleeman's a close second.

I remember when I lived in the Soo - I drank Molson on payday, two days later it was Labatts, and then it was Hamms until I got paid again.

xpanda - so you live west of Toronto; what the hell is west of Toronto - theres about a thousand miles af forest and indians west of Toronto - the big cities are - what? The Soo? Wauwau? Waukeegan? - there's good hunting up there - but, in my opinion, lousy living!

I live 15 minutes west of Toronto. Southwest, technically. Just follow the QEW. The area you're talking about, Sault Ste. Marie, is in the northwestern portion of Ontario. Completely different region. I'm in the urban area, you were in no-man's land.

ps. Molson and Labbatt's are not the actual names of the beer. It's like saying you put Kraft on your salad. You might want to narrow that down a smidge. Molson Canadian is crap, but Molson Golden is not so much crap. Labbatt Blue is crap, but Labbatt Classic is not crap. OV is a Molson product and it's uber-crap.

Only an American would come all the way up here, drink OV, and then brag about it.

It is an interesting thought. This election might be the beginning of the end for a unified country.

Maybe Old Vienna has gone down in quality since I last drank it about 20 years ago. It wasn't bad then. Out of the bottle it was great. Cost $11.99 a case back then.

Xpanda, I'm planning on going to the SABR convention in Toronto next August...I will expect you to be my tour guide that weekend. Somehow I think you'll be more fun than a bunch of stat geeks hanging out discussing Gustavo Chacin's deceptive delivery.

It would be my pleasure. August is a good month in Toronto. Between the Caribbana Festival and the Gay Pride parade, you will just love it here!!!

Okay, kidding aside, it would be my pleasure. Just give me a heads up so I don't plan a cottage getaway at the same time.

Gopher: I'm about an hour's drive from Waterloo. I lived there for a year, in fact. My original hometown is smack dab next door. And the University of Waterloo is one of our finest, especially for the math/engineering/science types. To be a Professor there is no small feat.
