Series over, Cards/Dodgers congratulate one another on the field...A page from the NHL..Nice gesture, I'd like to see this become tradition...

Will the ALCS end this way?

Yanks:love: Sox, doubtful :neenee:

it might - but unlike the 2 above teams - there would be knives in each other's hands!

I would hope to NEVER see this on a baseball field.

Fish-why? I thought it was a great show of class. Jim Tracy is a class act, and we in Cardinal nation have a lot of respect for him. He gave a great interview last night after the game as well.

Obviously Fishhead has never played any high level of sports. I usually like what you have to say, but this comment is dumb. Why would you not want to see class and sportsmanship in the pro ranks?

I don't care for the players joking with one another during the games....I think that comes with the territory, these days players are so filthy rich always switching teams etc...I liked it better when they seemed to despise each other...those old NFL Films Super Bowl clips really seemed to capture the outright hatred they seemed to have for their opponents..

All that being said I like the sportsmanship AFTER the game/series... I thought it was a good thing, and would like to see it become part of post season ritual....

Imagine Clemens and Piazza having to shake hands after the World Series...it would be similar to Hockey after they beat each others brains out for 7 gms, all eyes are fixated on the two players...

That s what happens in hockey, at the end of every series both teams shake hands. Classy. Go to battle then at the end show each other respect.

Its hard to respect homo's like JOSE LIMA though. That guy is a loser. I hate how the media made him seem like a icon. He was a salsa dancin *** who deserved to get beat out.

Lima did win his game though, but yes I agree the whole Lima thing was a bit much...Next year he'll probably go back to 0-9 and released...Stange career!

Didnt he give up a record breaking amount of homeruns one season when he was with the tigers.. I hate how he dances around like a clown, if it was hockey he would have been taken care of right away...I love baseball but hate shat like that....

FWIW - I really like to see the hand shake thing at least for the playoff clinching post game on-field celebration. I thought the Dodgers and Jim Tracy showed a lot of class by congratulating the winners. As far a Lima goes, I give him props for a bravura performance in game 3. Perform on the field and imo you can sing La Bamba all you want.

Alot of times while playing softball, i would just skip the handshake............the other team knew they could find me at the keg and i would be more than happy to pour them a beer.

Much more geniune and saved time.

Pete- Do not attempt to make it sound like i never played baseball............played high school, college, semi-pro, and even did a year stint with the Indianopolis Clowns barnstormers.

Pete - to be honest I have not seen much of Lima this year. I did see the singing (La Bamba) clip on sportscenter and it cracked me up a little bit, maybe because I speak a little Spanish, not sure. Bottom line is that Lima went out and threw a complete game shutout against a very hard hitting Cardinal team - no mean feat. Normally you would be right I am not a big fan of showboating.

Good luck tonight, wil.

Easy Fish......

I love Co-ed baseball.....What could be better Chicks, baseball, usually beer, its fun...

I played Major Junior hockey and part of tradition was too shake hands at the end of the game...it shows respect for your opponent...
SOmetimes the odd brawl would even break out, nothing bad can come of shaking hands after games.
