Spoke with someone last night very close to the program and he told me unless Jones does something stupid in the next 2/3 days he will be named the starter Sunday night as they began game week prep. Bosa had some weed on him when he, friends and some girls were questioned at a party police where called because of noise. The last thing he told me is the Ezekiel Elliot and his family have decided this will be his last year barring any major injury, he is playing with his decision made.

Seems like a lot of things other then football going on. Besides suspensions for VT they lose the #2 WR with broken leg, so will be lining up with #3 and #4 WR.. maybe osu implodes in week one. Will be interesting to see how they do. My expectation level is a little low after everything i heard last night.

I heard this comment and when it was said, it basically put all my jumbled thoughts together on this subject. Barrett is the better pick for an undefeated regular season, but Jones has more upside, say, v.s. an elite defense with his big arm. The drawback is, with his style, a greater chance for a bad game (%50 comp and a few picks) against someone they shouldn't lose to. I will say against VT, if they run the bear front again, the big plays are deep and on the edge. Jones can throw, but I can't see him getting to the edge in speed option.

That's why it ends up being so hard to repeat. All the talent in the world is there, but so many other human elements are now added. One of those being expectations. Everybody will be expecting them to win each game by 20+

i agree.. i think they will have their hands full with VT. I hope they don't lay an egg and lose the first one, i would not be surprised if they did considering everything that has happened so far.

Jones was the x factor in the last 3 stretching the field which will help them again this year making defenses play honest ball w/o cheating for run/pass. Will be interesting to see what this team looks like.

Wow, I wouldn't have expected jones to win the job. I'm not as knowledgeable on the Buckeyes as you guys are so I appreciate a good report when I hear one. I guess I'm just confused as to why cardale jones has more upside. I've heard a few people say that and it confuses me because I thought jt Barrett was fantastic in that offense and seemed to be able to make all the required throws. When he went down to injury cardale played well but I really felt the offense was simplified for him and he seemed to get a lot of help from Elliott rushing for 200+ ypg down the stretch and the defense playing out of their mind. Hard for me to understand how jones could beat out a guy who was lights out all year but urban is smarter than me. Can either of you guys tell me how jones is the better QB? I'm not trying to be a smart ass, I'm asking a real question because I don't seem to see all the "upside" cardale has over Barrett. Thanks guys

1. Is the person you spoke to Urban Meyer? If not, your person "very close to the program" doesn't know. All signs, sources and insiders I infact know are saying otherwise. Regardless of who starts, this team will be ready to roll in week one.

2. Bosa was "questioned" last week by police but no ticket or arrest....end of story.

3. It's obvious EZE is leaving after this year (along with many others), he'lll be the #1/#2 back in the draft.

Please don't post any "rumors", leave those to the fan sites/forums.

↑ Who in the hell is this guy? ↑ Anywho...
Not surprising to hear this, kid has absolute cannon.
Am a little surprised your expecations are low for our Bucks.
We have 1st rd talent at every level on both sides of the ball, plus best coach in country.
Think whoever the backup is will still get some tick.
No one is close to competing with them in B10, personally played

And yet Barrett is named one of 6 Ohio State Captains, NOT Jones. Is Urban going too far with his QB situation? So much for inside information. Comments Ohio State "experts"?

That would be surprising as Barrett is able to run much more of the offense and was by far the better leader. Jones has the big arm, but gambles way too much. Last year all he did was throw the ball for jump balls. This year minus the WR's I don't see that clicking as much. I'll wait on Urban.

Being a captain and being a starter are two different things. Some of it can be about seniority and who has been there the longest. Stoops named Mayfield OU's starting QB but Knight is still a captain on the team...

I would bet Barrett is the starter.

He's the better overall quarterback.

I agree, but who knows what Meyer has in mind. Sometimes these HC;s who find success tend to over-coach and over-think situations.

those that have gotten to know me here @ the rx would agree that I am a pretty rational poster and I would never say something for attention like some here..I am tempted to drop a name but know better. I stand by my source because you cant be much closer to the program then he is. As i said above unless jones did something stupid over the last few days he will be out there, as far as your comment on Elliot is speaks volumes of your true ignorance as nothing in life is guaranteed.. and finally with regard to Bosa, you do know he committed a team violation that got him suspended for game one MONTHS AGO ? that was the weed.. and it was covered up by Cloumbus police as far as reporting and filing charge. You are correct that he was handcuffed and questioned last week for another issue.. if I told you my source, you would not believe me anyway... so whay waste the energy on a guy like you?

Yes all all he did was destroy Wisconsin, Alabama and Oregon in successive games. Probably ran for at least 10 key back breaking first downs as well.

Wow. Classy.

Calling me ignorant for stating EZE is one of the top RBs in football this year (next to Chubb), and projected to be a top 10 pick. Yes, Bosa was busted for weed a month ago. We all know that happened, but I was referring to his drunk disorderly a couple weeks back. We all have our sources, I have mine, you have yours. Yours may easily be better than mine, but everyone hears certain things that could go either way.

"Why waste the energy on a guy like you?" - Icing on the cake.

Regardless of who starts, this team is special. But what do I know, I'm just an ignorant Buckeye fan.

Coach Meyer had a news conference today....This is the article.

Ohio State coach Urban Meyer hasn't made a final decision on his starting quarterback and isn't ruling out playing both stars in the Buckeyes' season opener.
J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones have been battling in training camp to determine the No. 1 quarterback to lead the defending national champions.

The Buckeyes open the 2015 season at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va., next Monday night.

"We'll announce the starter when the first guy takes the snap," Meyer said during his Monday news conference. "It's still very close, both guys are performing very well.
"If it was different skill sets, we probably would (need to decide), but they're not. If you look at J.T.'s game plan when he was our quarterback and Cardale's, it was very similar. There's a chance they'll both play, as well, so that hasn't really (been a factor) with our mindset with a game plan on offense."

Barrett and Jones said recently that they are opposed to a rotating system to run the Buckeyes' spread attack.

Barrett was named Ohio State's starting quarterback about a week before the 2014 season began after Braxton Miller was declared out for the year with a shoulder injury. Barrett had a Heisman-caliber season, leading the Buckeyes to a 10-1 record before fracturing his ankle in the regular-season finale against Michigan.

Jones took over and in his first start led Ohio State to a 59-0 victory over Wisconsin in the Big Ten championship game. He followed that up with a Sugar Bowl win over Alabama and a national championship victory over Oregon.

"If you're not going to (start), get ready," Meyer said. "I'd like to see both guys involved. It could be in-game; it could be weekly.

"They're pros. J.T. has always been a pro and I'm amazing at how Cardale has handled himself."

Miller, a two-time All-Big Ten quarterback and player of the year, decided this summer to move to wide receiver to allow more time for his shoulder to heal.

You don't have to waste your time defending yourself. We got your back and know who you are. Screw that dude. I appreciate your posting. Rumors/ innuendo are part of what handicapping is; going through everything and trying to figure out what can be used. This is very helpful information. Thanks again and lets all have a great year.
