This was a surprise, this really undermines USA strike power, even if he is physically declining by age there's no way I would have left him out.

Jurgen Klinsmann fucked it up.

Great fucking move. This midget had a couple of good games in 2010. Sucked in 2006 WC. He is overrated. Good move by JK

Only mildly surprised by this. It sounded like he was on the bubble, but I thought experience would push him on the plane. But it looks like this world cup team already has 1 eye on 2018. Several defenders made the team that have seen very little action.

Don't know about that. He spent the first 9 months of Klinnman's tenure off the radar and only really played the Gold Cup. I can't recall him playing any qualifier.

No analysis in this thread. Just goes to show that soccer hasn't made much progress in the US yet if not even degenerates care.

I am sorry, I wasn't aware that you were requiring it. Had I know that I would have written a 4 page diatribe to appease you. Sorry, sir.

well, Donovan doesn't fit the new diamond formation that Jurgen has installed and will likely be using in Brazil.

I had to look it up but he did play in the hex.....right at the end. Scored vs Mex too.

Don't twist up your panties man, I'm just saying that if this was a thread about Kobe being left off the 2016 Olympic team it would be pages long comparing him to other players, their strengths, weaknesses, matchups, etc.

I wasn't, I was just annoyed with something else and just decided to write that. All good.

Another thing is, I hate, hate Landon. So overrated imo.

Did Donovan taking a sabbatical cost him a spot? He hasn't looked good with the Galaxy this year.

Klinsmann going with a lot of young players. Some of them had nothing to do with qualifying. Not sure I agree with that. 18 year old Julian Green? Surprised Yedlin made it over Brad Evans.

GOALKEEPERS (3): Brad Guzan (Aston Villa/England), Tim Howard (Everton/England), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake)

DEFENDERS (8): DaMarcus Beasley (Puebla/Mexico), Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City), John Brooks (Hertha Berlin/Germany), Geoff Cameron (Stoke City/England), Timmy Chandler (Nurnberg/Germany), Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy), Fabian Johnson (Hoffenheim/Germany), DeAndre Yedlin (Seattle Sounders)

MIDFIELDERS (8): Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Alejandro Bedoya (Nantes/France), Michael Bradley (Toronto FC), Brad Davis (Houston Dynamo), Mix Diskerud (Rosenborg/Norway), Julian Green (Bayern Munich/Germany), Jermaine Jones (Besiktas/Turkey), Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City)

FORWARDS (4): Jozy Altidore (Sunderland/England), Clint Dempsey (Seattle Sounders), Aron Johannsson (AZ Alkmaar/Netherlands), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes)

Why not? Donovan is known as a second striker/offensive midfielder... a natural "10" who is able to serve and score.

LD numbers with the US squad... worth to mention he has a total of 5 goals in world cup matches, more goals in WC than Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo combined.

2013 2nd best scoring year for LD with the US team... much disinformation on the comments above.
