The SuperContest is where people from out of state, who want to participate, need to hire a proxy to go into the Westgate and put their plays in for them every week.
I decided to cap the amount of people I Proxy for, just because of the new system, how much time "no one" knows will take to place entries, and how many kiosks there will be.
So as a Proxy, in years past, they used old school parlay cards, where you could walk in, grab a huge stack, take them home, and fill in the bubbles with your entries picks. Then bring them in, and they would slide it in the reader, and BLAM, your entry ticket would print. Could easily knock out 10 or more in a minute.
Now, they are using a BRAND NEW system this year. Kiosks that no one has ever seen or used before.
Apparently, you slide the players entry card in, enter the PIN#, and scroll through a list and manually pick the plays for that entry. Then you submit it, and your entry ticket comes out.
So, this new system, that no one has used before, that's being used for the first time along with a RECORD NUMBER of entries. Do you think this will doom proxy's who decide to take on way to many clients for as system that they haven't even used before?
I have seen (and overheard) some proxy's taking on 100's, and even heard some are close to being a proxy for around 500 people.
To me, that sounds like you are setting yourself up for failure. How long will it take to put each play in? How are you sure you are putting in the correct plays for the right ticket, are you going to print out each email and text, and carry 500 pages (along with the 500 entry cards) to the kiosk with you every single week? Best case scenario is it will take 30 seconds to do the whole process for an entry... so if you are doing 120 entries, that's an hour... 500 entries that's over 8 hours of standing at a kiosk... not to mention the amount of hours each week getting everything ready.
So to me taking on such an excessive amount of entries, with this new time consuming system, seems like there is so much room for errors and mistakes.
So, I capped the amount I will proxy for, yet it seems there are some proxy's who would proxy for 2000 entries if they could without a second thought.
So by capping myself, and going for quality, over quantity, am I limiting myself... or doing the right thing for my players?
Thoughts? Comments?
