Nobody gives Vancouver a chance terrible season last year, injuries abound, young kids running a muck and and still a meddling owner.....

but this is a new season and everyone is focused to begin...

Vancouver has the best goalie tandem the league Miller and Markstrom oh yeah and when Miller gets hurt we'll bring up Thatcher Demko just to give you a taste of the future.

Our defense is deep I would pin our top 6 against anyone in the league

Okay so where do we fall off? forwards...huge gap between our top line in the Sedins who will continue to produce at a point a game players, to our next 3 lines which is a blend of under achieving veterans (Sutter, Baertschi, Skille) to long standing Fan Favs (Burrows, Dorsett. Hansen) and potential young stars (Horvat, Virtanen, & Rodin). The mantra coming out of camp is our bottom 6 is better than your bottom 6 we'll see.

I believe in future for Vancouver Jim Benning has been a good GM he got an empty farm system and quickly reloaded we have a ton of talent in Utica probably win down there so our depth is improving, Willie D I am not sold on, he seems to get out coached a lot although he has won at every level, and now he has spun off an assistant in Gullickson in CGY.

But can they win now? Only if they stay healthy they are 3-4 deep on the defense but 0'fer on forwards VCR starts losing forwards we will start fading....

Well the talk out out of Vancouver is get a quick start in the 1st quarter, they get CGY on a 3 in 4 off a draining home and home with Edmonton in which they go 0-2. Then Carolina right back the next night, so if they want a quick a start best to start with 4 points and that will tell if they mean business...

There is a lot of angst in Van city right now b/c Vcr announce Horvat would center the 4th line with Dorset and ??? but what they didn't hear was that he would still play 16 minutes a game on PK and PP and important defensive face offs.

Start off the season everyone is healthy all teams equal.

Calgary sucks they spend money on goalies but really the over acclaimed defense and no back checking young superstars are the real problem.....

Miller blanks the flames - they don't even get a shoot out goal.

Flames get one goal when Erikson back hands one into an empty net

Johnson played well stopping 30 of 31 shots, rarely giving up a rebound, the flames blocked 23 shots.
Amazing shift by the Sedin line in the 3rd to tie the game

YTD 3-5 -$121

The Canucks win in OT to a vastly superior team - In fact the flames got shut out even in the shoot out - the only goal is an own goal. I write this again because it reminded me to say focus on Unders with VCR.

I saw a couple of shots of the stands last night hardly any jersey's in the crowd the fans were quiet most of the game. Even after that awesome shift by the Sedin line the fans were still sitting on their hands. Now comes a Sunday night game in Vancouver at the end of weekend that has poured rain Friday Saturday and Sunday. If the crowd could not get up for a rival in Calgary on opening night how will they react to Canes, after being soaked all weekend????? pure apathy I believe it is apparent the city has no confidence in this team the only intriguing angle on this game is EDDIE Lack makes his return to VANCITY and will face the fellow countryman Markstrom.

Clearly Markstrom is the better goalie and Benning made the right choice when he traded away the popular Lack.

Carolina is a team on the rise with speed on the wings and lots of youth, the question is can they out work this grinding dump and chase Vancouver team? Last night it was evident that VCR had completely tired out the Flames (who were in a 3/4) by making the defense turn rush after rush up the ice.

My play Under 5.25 -121 risk $242

The under 5 is +125 but U 5.5 is -154 Looks like maybe a 3-2 game?

I'll say yes to OT as well $50 +289

Agree that the Canucks should be an "under" team this year. No goal scoring other than top line and excellent goaltending should make for many low scoring games. Good luck tonight and the rest of the year.

A hunk of change hit the Nucks so I pulled the trigger on the Blues.

Nucks have to keep the Blues at no more than 2 goals to have a chance here.
