With Pudge now on the Tigers, if they win 19 more games than last year, they will STILL LOSE 100 games.

It's amazing what $40 million for four years will buy in the present sports marketplace!

Well, at least the Tigers are trying!

Dicky, no offense but sniffing glue can be hazardous to your health.

DickyW - That would be a 38-game improvement (going from 119 losses to just 81 losses). No team in the HISTORY of baseball has improved 38 games in ONE season!!

500.....I think he means the average number of fans in attendance for each game!

If history repeats itself Pudge will not be that productive...No catcher has maintained his ability at the plate well into his mid 30`s...it just doesn`t happen, at least not yet..

They can expect two good years out of the four...

...also Detroit isn`t the hitter friendly Tiger Stadium anymore...He does bring alot of intangeables ....maybe they can sell a few seats with the move...

Maybe 500 is a little much but I would'nt rule out a 25 game improvement.

dickyw... they will be damn near .500.. What a great offseason. With the young staff the tigers having a year of experience, like last year, is HUGE!

Dicky, what you got up above is mild.. I get laid into when go 1-1 like I lost 10G's..

Yes, the tigers are much improved.. Most importantly there pitching staff is a year older and they have a hall of fame catcher now to throw to... plus some pitching additions this offseason were huge!

Mike Maroth, Jeremy Bonderman, Gary Knotts, Nate Cornejo, Chris Spurling, Nate Robertson, Wil Ledezma, Matt Roney and Eric Eckenstahler.

No, this is not a new Detroit law firm. These are some of the pitchers the Tigers will be relying on to get them to that magic .500 level that they haven't reached in 10 (count'em) 10 years.

Bring back McClain, Lolich, Morris and Petry.

what is funny about those names is this.. at one time..

Jack Morris, Dave Rosema, Dan Petry, Milt Wilcox

all were nobodies also.... I like the direction and the way the Detroit Tigers are heading!

Atleast were not standing IDLE.. We're trying to get better and doing it the proper way...

I love my Wings but even I have to laugh at the "hockeytown" crap. Detroit is like any other hockey city when your winning it's a hockey mecca and when your loosing it's a frickin ghost town.

BTW
Are you a Sabres fan?

Lander if the Lions ever succeed, which I think they will, this Town and State will go CRAZY!

Age is the reason you have not heard these names not talent.

Yeah, I do enjoy watching them, but missing the playoffs year after year takes it's toll on fan loyalty ...

at least I can make excuses when the Bill lose, but the Sabres have 84 games to show that it's not a fluke

Dicky W -

I have been following the Tigers since the 50s and still do here in Las Vegas through DirecTv, so naturally I have not only heard of those pitchers but have also seen them perform.

IMHO, only Cornejo and Bonderman have the potential to have better-than-average major league careers.

I tend to agree with your statement. It seems like the financial commitment from ownership is there again and maybe they'll bring in a quality starter. I think we can both agree the batting line up and the infield is much better.
