Horton was so solid. It would be a shame to waste the great performance on your teammates lackluster attempt on 1 event.

Horton had the performance of his life. Very good job by him. USA wasn't even a favorite to get a medal in this event, but a nice showing by them. Pretty much assured of at least a Bronze. China dominated as expected.

I think the US is gonna hold on. Gutsy performance all in all. Dont think they would have held on for the Silver anyway.

can't help but feel like we gave the silver away. i don't know all of the math but regardless hard to be happy with a bronze here no matter what this queer announcer says.

Uno,

Just for hypothetical circumstance sake, the US would have had to average a 15.0 to beat out the Japanese. Essentially impossible. Tan had a degree of difficulty of 4.9 and Raj a DoD of 5.1.

They averaged a 15.5 on the High Bar, and we were 1.7 ahead going in.

i can get with that but we still blew it on the floor routines and thus gave away the silver.

Haha...

I love how NBC just decides to post the Medal Count on the day that the U.S. overtook China.

USA wasn't even supposed to win a medal, so they have to be happy with bronze. It's tough to say they gave it away because although they might have had a decent lead they might have finished the easier sections already which would make their lead look bigger than it was.

Very good performance though. Was an exciting event.

here is the difference b/w the USA and you guys up there.... we don't settle for mediocrity.

we are ALWAYS supposed to medal, pretty much that simple.

i understand you needing to hate on us every chance you get with the relay last night and now your comment here considering you guys are mysteriously missing from this list - http://www.nbcolympics.com/medals/2008standings/index.html

so keep it up, it is lame but it is all you have.
