I know this may make sound stupid in a gamblers forum but I see at pinnacle now when I make a parlay it has options for a round robin. I've heard it many times but don't have a clue what it is, can someone help me. Thanks, Rocko

quote:
The Round Robin is an excellent tool to minimize the risk of combining several teams in one parlay while still capitalizing on higher payoffs offered by parlays. A Round Robin is a multi-team wager that allows you to use the same teams to create a group of parlays. By definition a Round Robin is all possible combinations of two, three or more team parlays with the chosen teams. When more than 3 teams are selected, options are available for how the parlays are combined (2 team parlays, 3 team parlays, etc). For example, in choosing a 4 team Round Robin there would be an option of combing the teams in 4 3 team parlays or 6 2 team parlays.

Rules

Ø All parlay rules apply.

Ø You may buy points on combinations of two and three team parlay Round Robins.

Ø Round Robin wagers from different sports is allowed (when technically possible)

Ø 3-10 teams are allowed in a Round Robin

Ø Circled contests may not be included in a Round Robin

Example Let's say you are betting on the Sunday NFL games. You did your analyzing already and picked three games. You really like these games and you are sure all of them are winners. You don't want to place them on a three team parlay, because you want to minimize you losses. You don't want to have them on straight bets either because the profit is not what you are looking for. This is the perfect scenario for a Round Robin. You place all three teams on a Round Robin and you have all possible combinations of two team parlays, in this case, with all three teams chosen. You will lay the same amount chosen on the Round Robin per parlay. To finish our example, let's name our picks: Minnesota Vikings, St. Louis Rams and Green Bay Packers.

3 team Round Robin for $100

Vikings -3

Rams -10

Packers -7

This 3 team Round Robin is the equivalent to have the following parlays:

2 team parlay

Vikings -3

Rams -10

Risking $100 to win $260

2 team parlay

Vikings -3

Packers -7

Risking $100 to win $260

2 team parlay

Rams -10

Packers -7

Risking $100 to win $260

In this example your Maximum Risk is $300. Your Maximum Win is $720. This is the maximum money you can loose and the maximum money you may win. But remember by choosing this play you are minimizing your risk by splitting your plays into three two team parlays

I sometimes take a portion of what I'm wagering on a group of games and apply it to a round robin......worked out REAL well earlier this year when overs were hitting left and right....I generally do this when I'm really sure about the games, all well knowing that if it works it just rains money but if you lose most of your games the wind gets sucked out of you.....wouldn't recommend playing this method exclusively unless you can hit 60% or more of your straight wagers on a regular basis.....somebody posted 5 or 6 high dollar underdogs one day, all of them won....just out of curiousity I figured out on a parlay calculator what the payout would have been playing them all round robin in 2 team parlays.....figured out to over a 700% profit on a $300 investment, or roughly about a $2100 profit.......BUT HOW MANY TIMES DO 5 OR 6 BIG DOGS HIT IN THE SAME DAY?????? To calculate the amount of parlays in a group of games, take the amount of picks times the next lowest number and divide by 2.......for instance, if you have 6 picks, take the 6, x5, =30, divide by 2, makes 15 parlays.....some places don't have the round robin button available as was the case with your book.....mine doesn't have that option so I just list my picks from top to bottom on a list, and place two teamers in starting with the top pick, top pick plays every team below, then second team plays every team below, then third team plays every team below it.....one thing about this method.....IF, and this is a big IF.....IF you can hit the first 3 of a 5 team round robin, you can absolutely turn a nice profit by hedging against your last 2 picks, provided there is time to know the outcome of the first three games and time therefore to hedge the other two out.....
