Game should be a Pick, SD is Yesterday's News
Agreed. SD is a mess right now on both sides of the ball. The biggest problem being that they cannot run the ball or defend the run.
Given that SD is so one dimensional....it shouldn't be too hard for Nolan and company to limit VJ deep, Gates over the middle & Sproles screens.
Factoid of the day:
Denver has only allowed SEVEN second half points. And that was to Cincy late in week 1. They have pitched 4 consecutive 2H shutouts to CLE, OAK, DAL & NE. I believe I read somewhere that they have only given up 2 3rd down conversions in those halves as well.
SD definately has the situational edge here...coming off of bye, desperate, possible let-down after McD won his mini super bowl over Pats and Orton won OPOW.
Even so, I doubt it's enough to overcome huge match up problems they face on the field.
Buckhalter should be back and he and Moreno ought to be able to gash SD's porous run D.
Orton should have ALL day in the pocket to make his reads and not have to rush into any mistakes. I can't see how SD will be able to muster any sort of pressure.
Also...It's not a coincidence that Orton won OPOW the same week the glove finally came off. I've watched every Bronco game at least twice now and his passes had noticeably more zip vs. NE. And he was averaging under 60% with the glove but threw for 73% without it.
