Blake Wheeler and David Krejci both had a goal and an assist to give the Bruins their longest home winning streak in 25 years as the home standing Brunis routed the Champion Detroit Red Wings 4-1 Sunday Night.

Boston moved back into a tie with the New York Rangers for first place in the Eastern Conference.

The win also capped an 11-1-1 November for the Bruins, who had their most productive month in 30 years. Eight of the wins came at home, with the Bruins outscoring opponents 41-14 in those games.

Much more than competitive wil. They were simply competitive last year.

They shouldn't have snuck up on anybody. Although judging by the numerous shops that still offered them at 50/1 during the early part of the year, no one seemed to take them serious. This year they have all the components to go far into the playoffs.

Fun team to watch. Boston may not be "Orr Country" any longer but this year's Bruins squad sure has a similar feel. They will beat you up, light the lamp, have good goaltending, and play some effective team defense.

Catch the fever.

Yep it looks like they finally got a good team again I think Boston and San Jose are the best 2 teams in hockey that would be an interesting cup finals. Being a Bruins fan and a Blue Jays fan has sucked the past 10 years or so.

I never bet futures but when I saw the Bruins at 40-1 a month or so ago I had to put a little something on them wish I put a little bit more on them now.

Following a game at Philly, Lightning play two of next three vs Boston.

With only five home games in December, this could be yet another brutal month for TBay.

Taking Barman Jr to his first NHL game Saturday vs Buffalo. I wanted him to see a matchup where Bolts had at least a fair chance to prevail and Boston on Thursday sure doesn't seem to be such a game.

Adding one more item regarding this year's Bruins team.

Much has been made of their depth and how they can roll four full lines of offense at you. Jesse Connolly at hockeybuzz compiled this list of what the forward lines produced for the month of November. I don't think you'll ever see such balanced scoring from a NHL team. Amazingly their second line of Bergeron, Ryder, and Axelsson was the ugly sister of the group. Bruins checking line actually out scored the second line 8 goals to 5. However Micheal Ryder turned his game up a couple notches in the last week and I'd look for him to post some big numbers the rest of the way. He looks Semin-like in his shooting ability.

Tim Thomas is having a great season so far in net and Manny Fernandez isn't too shabby either. Don't know the #'s off-hand, but they have to have the best GAA in the NHL as a goaltending unit.

Also, Milan Lucic is going to continue to get better.

Too bad the Bruins are from Boston or I would root them on more often...but we know the saying here in NY...Buck Foston.

Hard to believe but Thomas has lead the league in save percentage for the last year and a quarter.

Although I just noticed after Anderson's shut out versus the Rangers today, Thomas has temporarily dropped to number 2. Still a .940 save#, and 1.88 GAA. Not bad for a guy who can't get his name on a all-star ballot.
