I am staying there for a short vacation and want to know about the poker room action, rooms and any entertainment. Also how far is it from other poker rooms.

Thanks guys.

The Orleans is on the Southwest side of Vegas, off of the Strip. Nothing else is walkable from there, so you'll have to be cabbing it around to move around. I haven't played Poker there so can't give you any tips as far as that.

Good to know to bring extra cab fare. Nice.

extremely smoky and sickly crowded....i'd avoid staying there...visiting for a few hours is alright, but other than that it sucks.

Decent locals casino. Has a bowling alley, TGIFriday's, good burger joint, and Chinese restaurant.

You can catch a shuttle to the Gold Coast. Not sure if they still run the shuttle to Bill's (which used to be the Barbary Coast). Check on that because it will get you center Strip if they do.

It's owned by Boyd so no great gambling deals. Some very nice cocktail waitresses there.

Never stayed in the rooms and can't comment on that.

Usually the shows they have are either very old or someone who has seen better days.

Rooms are nice but nothing special. Comparable to Luxor, Monte Carlo. Poker room is one of the best in Vegas. 2 tourneys daily and probably 30-40 ring games going at peak. Lots of local grinders play there, so it can be a tough room.

Big, decent rooms. Fast moving check-in lines.
The channels in the racebook are shown on the tv in your room.
Swarms of locals with kids walking the main aisles.
Orleans was nicer before all of the expansion.

Spent time there last summer as nephew was in a bowling tourney. They do have a shuttle that runs to Bill's which we used. It's over a mile from the strip and we spent $10 to $12 taking a cab from Excalibur each time. Didn't gamble in the poker room, they do have a decent selection of restaurants to choose from. For the shuttle, I remember if a long line they give hotel guests priority so you should have no problem using it. Enjoy your trip!

I was driving through Chinatown today and thought to myself, "man I bet Judge Wapner wishes he were with me right now".

Judge and I going to a Thai restaurant tonight...afterwards, our famous strip joints down here where stuff happens that Vegas would be proud of...:drink:
