If this bailout goes through, what will happen is that the
government will print billions of dollars worth of funny money
that they don't have, in the hope that they will eventually
get back that money in the form of payback on loans.

In actuality what will happen is that corruption and ineptitude
will make the actual return on the funny money much less than
it's initial value.

This will cause the dollar to be devalued even more, and
inflation to rise. This will cause everyone in this country to
have a higher cost of living.

The bottom line is that this bailout won't drastically effect us
in the near term, but it will eat at us, and our children, and
our grand-children for the rest of our/their lives.

I think I've been visiting this political pub for about two years now, and in that time frame I've read about us getting fucked, the US is fucked, the dollar is fucked, the war is fucked, we have no freedoms, we can't gamble, the CIA is listening to us and Armageddon is around the corner 16,389 times.

Surely, somebody must have a real life example of getting fucked, no? Do I really have to wait several more years?

You're driving full speed towards a cliff ... I think you get the idea.

If you want to argue that the gov't does not exert enough influence on our lives to make a material difference, then I'd argue that participation in this forum is of no value, since the govt's or campaigns' actions are usually what we talk about in here.

If you want to argue that the current state of the financial markets is of no consequence, then I'd point to scientific polls that say most people believe it is. There are polls saying the economy is the number one issue, and there are polls saying that the economy is not fundamentally sound. Put the two together and what do you get?

If you want to discount that, then I'd discount other references to scientific polls also.
