WRONG!!!!!!!............McCain couldnt explain what a conservative is because he isnt one nor as far as i know ever claimed to be 1....In fact there was NO TRUE CONSERVATIVE in the race at all with the possible exception of Palin and i doubt shes a "true" conservative as well...
All Reps are not conservatives.......in fact in the 60's the Dems were the party of conservatives...

To start off with, there is a difference between a
fiscal conservative and a social conservative.

I am both. Fletcherism is a fiscal conservative but not a social conservative.

In short... fiscal conservatism advocates reduction in government spending. They want a balanced federal budget (no deficit), and a reduction in
the federal debt.

social conservatism advocates a government role in encouraging
and/or enforcing traditional values which include: abortion,
traditional marriage, prohibition of certain drugs, prostitution
and euthanasia - censorship of pornography, obscenity...

Since Bill Clinton was the only President to come close to accomplishing this since 1980, I guess that he is a fiscal conservative and Regan and both Bushes are liberals.
