he said the good senator was out, the individual that knew about the bill was out as well and wanted me to leave a voice mail. i informed him as a veteran, business owner, and taxpayer it concerned me that he wanted to diminish not only my service but that of others in trying to attatch a bill impeding our rights to choose to a DOD funding measure. i also asked about the service record of Mr. Frist, guess what, he doesn't have one, i then informed him of the countless lives lost in defense of the constitution of this great nation, don't trivialize that by taking our freedoms one at a time. call this a**hole today and i'll send you the money for the phone bill, what's a couple dollars amongst friends....

I stayed on the phone exactly 3 hrs...this one is hefty...

Just read on another site that a lobbyist told them this bill is likely to pass.

I spoke with an aide in Frist's office who confessed to not understanding why this was being attached to a defense authorization bill. I informed him that I do not intend to vote for or contribute to any Republican if his Senator follows through with this tactic.He asked that I call back Monday when he should have more answers.

Frist intends to insert a version of HR4411 into the defense conference report. Defense conference committee negotiations are in progress and a proposed bill could be made public as early as Tuesday online.

Please keep calling your Senator's office.

As per the aide's suggestion, I called Frist's office again today to try to obtain an explanation as to why he is attaching an internet gambling amendment onto a defense authorization bill.

This time, a smartass aide named William responded by stating "because he can." He then expounded on this statment by explaining that it is commonplace for members of Congress to attach such amendments to pending legislation and that's the way things are done in Washington.

I reiterated that this was an underhanded tactic and advised him that I will not be voting Republican in the future.

It varies state to state.

I know in NY it takes only one side to consent and then label it as a consenually recorded conversation. I learned that when it said in my indictment, "In a consensually recorded conversation...."

Who cares anyway? They want to prosecute you for that, so be it.

Very few states make it outright illegal to tape someone.

Many states won't let you use the tape as admissible court evidence.

When the paparazzi videotapes celebrities, they have no permission and they are not breaking the law, but the tapes might not be admissible - but who cares - they are publishable. People who are public figures do not have to sign releases.

Agreed. Kwalder always has intelligent insight to the complicated and, in my opinion, corrupt U.S. legal processes. I have great respect for his opinions.

As far as Frist goes, he thoroughly sickens me. With everything that is wrong with the world his maniacal obsession with internet gambling ahead of anything else tells me he is out of touch, likely insane and obsessed beyond any reason. A pathetic, miserable loser.

All that said, my gambler's instinct tells me we are going to win this fight in the end. To hell with you, Frist. :finger:
