California Moves To Jail People Who Use the Wrong Pronoun

California legislators are set to vote this week on a bill that could criminalize using the wrong pronoun to refer to a transgender individual.

The bill, which passed the California state senate in May, has moved into the California state assembly as part of a slew of gender-based "anti-discrimination" laws designed to protect California residents who don't believe they fall into the gender binary.

Titled the "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Long-Term Care Facility Residents Bill of Rights," the new law would allow transgender individuals living in care facilities like nursing homes to use bathrooms in line with their preferred gender (not necessarily their biological gender), and would punish any caregiver who "knowingly" uses the wrong gender pronoun to refer to one of their patients.

Accidentally use "he" instead of "she" and you could face a $1,000 fine and up to a year in jail for gender-based discrimination and harassment.

Unsurprisingly, free speech advocates and faith-based care facilities are upset about the development, partly because they would be compelled to act in a way that defies their religious dogma and partly because there's absolutely no way the state will limit the bill's protections just to care facilities.

“How can you believe in free speech, but think the government can compel people to use certain pronouns when talking to others?” a representative of the California Family Council testified to the assembly late last week.

The state senator who authored the bill, Scott Weiner, was particularly vocal when it came to exempting religious organizations from the law: he wasn't going to do it because, he claimed, religion has no place in public life.

“Everyone is entitled to their religious view,” Weiner said. “But when you enter the public space, when you are running an institution, you are in a workplace, you are in a civil setting, and you have to follow the law.”

Fortunately, in this case, the law — at least, the larger law and the Constitution — may be on California residents' side. According to law professor Eugene Volokh, the law itself seems too vague, and it's likely California wouldn't strictly interpret the law and limit their enforcement to nursing home caretakers only. Its "pretty unlikely that, if this law is enacted, such prohibitions would be limited just to this scenario," he told National Review.

That would mean California could face litigation once they start enforcing the rule, and precedent isn't on California's side.

Sincerely Hoping that come The Midterm Elections Voters have a firm laser-sharp sight on what The Left has done all these months, and what they will continue to do as they seek to destroy America in this Murder-Suicide "Life Plan" that rules their damaged brains. MORE Seats Lost, As much Power stripped from them as possible.

Its Gotta Happen.

In most state legislatures each Rep or Senator is legally permitted to introduce a certain number of proposed bills per annual (or bi-annual) session. Here in Florida it is six each for 140 legislators.

So every session sees literally hundreds of proposed bills and upwards of 95% never even make it past committee hearings. But it does allow the individual Rep to go to his immediate constituency and report, "I introduced a bill that many of you asked for"

1) The most common reason a proposed bill fails to proceed is of course lack of support from other Reps.

2) The second most common reason is the bill is patently unconstitutional and that takes us back to #1 above.

If we were to create a Thread here at the Rx and post stories about every one of the literally thousands of state-level proposed bills that fall into #1 and #2 above we would of course have a 1000+ page Thread.

All of the above noted, it remains fascinating to see the handful of clearly unconstitutional laws passed nationwide each year.....nearly all of which violate either the First or Fourth Amendment.

But until they are subsequently challenged and then revoked they at least give us a snapshot image of who and where the legal dorks are in our various state leges :)

He is,he just was on with Tucker Carlson tonight, what a joke,TRAVESTY!!

I think you're not supposed to refer to it as "him". I believe thats the root of the whole issue. Ya gotta call it either "she" or "them" or "they". Depending on their preference.

Plus that wasn't "him" anyways, on Tucker. That was just a person exactly like him. But a totally different person.

How about that African-American Gentleman who put that feather in his hair to look like an Indian so as to extort $$$$$ & Land from Brown University?

Obviously & Transparently African-American, he had a feather sticking up from his head.

Did you see him? He was very entertaining.
