One of my favorite days at Calder - had hoped to make it down, but plans fell through so I'll have to settle for watching at home. There will absolutely be some huge payouts today. Maybe we get at least one of them.
Race 2
Have to take a look at the daughter of Mazel Trick, MAZEL PIC, who got off a step slow and raced evenly in debut. Now gets stuck in the 12 hole which is the only reason I won't back her here - I think she'll improve dramatically, but it's not the right spot yet. I'm going to look to another filly that started poorly in her debut, WESTERN CIRCUIT. She took a lot of action in that one and follows it up with a decent 5f work and a shot of Lasix for good measure. The price should be fair as I expect R OBSESSION will be taking a lot of money.

SCRUBS hasn't won for Hatchett in a long time, but seems to be in good shape right now and has faced tougher without packing it in. He should be able to make the lead and, hopefully, keep it.

I like the jockey upgrade for ALMOST HOLY enough to make up for my worries about why he's been off for 60 days after what looked like a very good try against similar company.

Race 6
This race sets up like a dream for PROHIBIDO OLIVIDAR. I expect blistering fractions and will be shocked if my girl isn't flying down the middle of the track late.

Race 7
Robert Hale looks like he's got a real speed demon in HARPOON. Gets Velasquez as the frosting on the cake - just hope he hasn't been burned out in the AM.

I might post my pick 5 race selections later today - still a work in progress. However, I will say now that I like PETRINA ABOVE in the 8th. Hope the old mare knocks a bunch out early for me.
