cal avg. 35 pts on the road last year they also get their RB back from torn acl and academic problems (he's missed 2 years). they had a great recruiting class also. with k.state having a shot to contend for the title I dont see them playing the starters the whole contest since it is an exemption for them. cal also played a slightly tougher schedule last year. It'll be interesting to see how K.state fairs with the loss of Terence Newman who went in the 1st rd of the NFL draft. it'll be the cal coach jeff tedford's 2nd season, I think he's got this program headed in the right direction.

we'll see, I'm hopeing the line goes up some more. leaning cal right now.

RobFunk,

Are you any relation to the golfer Fred Funk? Nice record last year, I like the Golden Bears +27.5 also. Banta Cain is a good run stopper

WHEN YOU SAY EXEMPT, DOES THAT MEAN EVEN IF THEY LOSE IT DOES NOT COUNT AGAINST THEM FOR THE NATIONAL TITLE?

THANKS AND GOOD LUCK THIS SEASON!

I think the "exempted games" are ones that cannot count towards the amount of games you have won in order to qualify for a BCS bowl games. However, it does count in the standings and will be factored by the voters in determining who will play in the BCS championship game as well as other games. SO if K-state loses this game it will severely hurt their chances of going to the national championship game.

If they win this game it will help them garner more votes and make it easier for them to make it to a better bowl. However, if they end up with 9 wins (including a win over Cal) and they would need 9wins to make it to a BCS bowl, then the win against CAl would not count.

I sincerely doubt this will effect K-state one bit in this game since a bad performance in this game will still be viewed by AP voters and coaches poll voters and will be factored into the computer rankings that all determine who ranks were the for BCS bowl games.

I can see the reasoning on the Cal bet for the whole game but I think KState is the call for the first half. They will want to get some wrinkles out with their first string and the first stringers will want to run the score up so they can rest earlier.
