Let's post our thoughts on our beloved Bears in this thread and any news that might be pertinent.

I'll start with this:

Week 3
Cal @ Minnesota
12 PM EST ESPN

(which is actually 11 am locally)

let's hope this isn't another debacle like last yr @ maryland

Cal has @Oregon and USC on deck following Minn.

I'm not so sure they will bring their "A" game with them here. New stadium etc. etc. -- Minn. has a few advantages going in, particularly ATS. Depending on IF the GG's can handle AF the week before Cal, the line here may be very favorable for them. They will be the home dog but I can't predict a spread at this point. Closest I can figure is about a TD, maybe a little more depending on the Cal hype.

PS... just wondering Trent. Do you have any kind of connection to Cal? Just wondering because of the title of this thread.

That's good to know that I'm thinking along the right lines. The LVH line confirms it.

I remember your futures thread well trent. I got 75-1 and lucked out with one 80-1 shot at Wagerstreet. Those days are long gone my friend. 50-1 is about all I see anymore. I think after 4-5 weeks into the new season we will know where it stands. It could be worth every dime by then and then some.

BDQH, did you play on any futures? They don't even have to win a NC to pay big, just make it into the NC game with a sizable hedge behind them. Big money for little risk.

PS... I sure hope Riley and Tedford hit it off soon. But in a way I hope they never do. LOL

I have a club ticket and I'm on board the Cal ship with captain trent $ guiding the ship through the rough seas of the cfb season.

I agree that the week 3 game at Minnesota is a trouble spot. Gophers have a new stadium and certainly have the talent to beat Cal.

Very dangerous game for Cal,with a trip to Oregon and USC facing them. Hopefully, they learned their lesson from lat year's Maryland game. Where did you see the Hilton's early lines, if I may ask?

Kornegay from LVH was quoted that line in an article

This is going to be a lot of peoples "Game of the Year".
If you're talking about Cal/Maryland I'm not so sure. I think when the line comes out and if it's Cal -14 points or more it will put some doubts in people's minds whether they can cover by over 2 TD's. And I still believe that it is going to be close to that number when it opens.

I'd consider it at 14 because Cal does well in home revenge situations. Not a strong play at that number however.

I can't see the number for the Cal-Maryland game being anything less than 14. You are looking at a very young Maryland team picked by most to finish near the bottom of the ACC, traveling across country to play a Cal team picked by almost everyone to finish 1st or 2nd in the Pac 10, ranked as high as 11th Nationally, and revenge minded. The line really should be closer to 17. At 14 or less, I can not see anyone talking Maryland.

Sorry, I thought they were discussing the noon start time for the Cal at Minnesota game.

Riley is the key to Cal's success. While he has put up some impressive numbers, much of that was done in games already decided (Maryland last year). He is an average QB, as his stats will testify to. He will be expected to step it up somewhat this year, but more importantly not to give anything away. Cal will be a run oriented offense, so Riley does not have to worry about the pressures of carrying this team. He does have to worry about Sophmore Brock Mansion and a coach who thinks nothing of switching starting QB's in the middle of the season.
