personally to me this looks like a game of the year, absolute free money spread no brainer but i haven't seen too much discussion on this game

can someone who's not playing this game or is on md please explain to me your reasoning because honestly cal is just going to absolutely crush them...

I agree.

too good to be true.. but too good to be is always dangerous.

why is it only -13.5? I was expecting 25 ore more.

and Texas vs Arkansas line also.

those two plays are GOY i believe.. but waiting...

Once again, too good to be true...

i see what you're saying but i disagree in this case... i can't put my finger on it though

i'm mainly a rhetorical style gambler when it comes to college football so i'm usually the first one to say something is too good to be true... but there's just something about spread that screams screams screams buy. i think this is a strong buy all the way to 20 so i'm very interested in seeing the line movement and also where the public money is going

Maryland is terrible and just lost to MTSU. I love Cal in this game. I need to look into stuff like who Cal plays next week, kickoff time, etc.

I also think this line is too good to be true. Cal beat a good Michigan State team and destroyed WSU. Travel to Maryland, where the Terps had been tough a few years back, to play a team that just lost to MTSU and only have to give 13'? Cal is on a bye week next week so no look ahead. WTF am I missing here.

You all forget that Maryland is the type of team that is always in close games. They never run away with it, but they never get destroyed.

I don't buy that. The only team they played last year with an offense beat the crap out of them.

Michigan State and Maryland are comparable. Michigan State is a little better, but Cal didn't exactly blow them out at home. Now you expect a blowout against a comparable tream on the road? You're focusing too much on last week, when Cal had a great performance, and Maryland had a terrible one. If both teams play like last week, yes, Cal will cover. If they both play like week 1, Maryland will cover.

MD played like crap the week before as well when they beat Deleware a I-AA team 14-7.

I have watched both of there games this year and they look like complete shit. There offense is really bad.

I Really Don't Bet Double Digit Road Favorites, When There Are So Many Better Plays, But In The First 2 Weeks Both Maryland And The Acc In General Have Stunk It Up In Out Of Conference Games

I am not sure how you can say scoring 14 points on a D2 team is playing well?

I have lived in MD 30 min from campus for 30+ years and went there so I am pretty familiar with their program... They have looked much much better in previous years. This team is looking like shit compared to years past. They may be able to turn it around but from the 2 games I watched I was not impressed.

What did you see in them that made you think otherwise? Did you watch either game ?

:nono5: Michigan State & Maryland are NOT comparable. State is quite a bit better than Maryland.

That being said laying 2 TD's on the road is tough even in what appears to be a big mismatch

I like cal, but its pretty obvious why the line is low.

Just look at a map Cal @ Maryland

not that it makes much difference, but I went to the Delaware game and based on what I saw I'd have to say Maryland is going to have a rough season.... If Delaware can put that much pressure on them in their own house, just image what Cal can do. I'd guess this will be up to 17 by kickoff, but I'm still going to jump all over it. GL

The game being at 9am Cal time is what is keeping me off of this right now.

i have to say i love cal here.

im a terp. we are terrible. we have few playmakers on offense, our only deep weapon is heyward bey but i dont think the qb's are able to get the ball to him. rb sure can run but only if theres a huge hole that is given to him. people are kind of making a big deal over him on campus but i don't think hes a stud.

i could see turner throwing 2 ints and i see portis doing worse. the only thing keeping me from pounding cal is that there have been instances when i bet against maryland as an underdog and i get fucked (i lost a teaser last year when UNC coughed it up in their home basketball loss). i have made a killing when betting against maryland as a favorite, but the score usually seems to hover around the spread or go the complete other way when they are a dog (see last year WVU or Rutgers - im sure there are a few more).

with that being said, i do think maryland is at the bottom of our shit conference this year. i'd give duke a chance to beat maryland in football this year.

This just seems like the classic game that Cal loves to lay an egg in. They had a game similar to this last year at Colorado State and played like complete dogshit.

They blow out Wazzu and come in with their chins up high. They probably have the same outlook on Maryland as most of the people here do. Travelling cross country, laying double digits, not taking a team seriously. Not a top notch situation to back a team imo.

Just playing devils advocate.

I agree we have been horrible so far this year. I really believe this team is better then what they have shown. Byrd is a very underrated home field. I think last week was your classic look ahead game. They were put in an awful position playing a hungry team on the road. This team does have some playmakers. Heyward Bay is one of the best receivers in the nation. Scott has breakaway speed, and Turner is capable of making plays. We will see but I think this spread is perfect. By no means a lock.
