I've played Drexel twice this season and come out on the winning end each time; both were top play winners. First, I had the Dragons (-3) at home over Cal State Northridge. I called for a blowout because Northridge is a miserable basketball program and Drexel won by only eight after trailing at halftime. I realized that I'd overhyped and overrated the dismal Dragons, thus I came back with the infamous 100 dime winning Lock of the Month on Niagara over Drexel. Bottom line, the Dragons are mediocre in every sense of the word. Their offense is brutal and as a team, they shoot a horrendous 34 percent from the field. Drexel has no deep threat meaning they aren't going to have a field day from three-point land and they aren't a quick team that scores in transition. VCU, one of the CAA's best teams has the firepower and the offensive versatility to make this one real ugly real quick. Senior Eric Maynor (24 points per) can put the ball in the bucket so many different ways and when he slashes the lane, he draws the extra defender, setting up open perimeter looks for Joey Rodriguez and Brad Burgess, who've been hitting key shots all year. The Rams love to cramp on defense and press the basketball, evident by their 10 steals per contest. They love putting pressure on their opponents, something that Drexel does not bode well against. VCU is 4-1 ATS in its last five games at the Daskalakis Center and I'm calling for an easy win and cover tonight.
