this movie is one of the fresher things to come out of hollywood in some time,,,

the main character is a bit Hapless, and ends up having to dig deep to become a hero,

clever movie, decent story, there is a little bit that you can pick it apart for, but not useing any big named actors was excellent!

clever movie.

i read or maybe heard the other day that it made around 40 mil the opening weekend and that was more than the cost to make it.

I had no idea it was done that cheap. By seeing previews i thought it was some huge big-budget CGI sci-fi movie, plus with Peter Jackson being behind it i thought for sure it was some 100 mil plus type movie.

Great movie I just saw it tonight.

Heard they intend to make another, but it maybe a while before director and producer become available due to other projects. They may pick up from where they left off or go in the prequel direction.

I need to get a fresh copy and watch it again

SheBar's cousin came down in about September and brought a bootleg copy. We put it on and I'm doing my best to follow along and actually watched the whole thing before it became painfully evident that the bootleg copy had not included the Subtitles.

I'm watching and thinking, "this is pretty creative making the audience figure out what the aliens are saying..." while the SheBar is falling asleep and telling me how dumb it is because she doesn't understand what the aliens are saying

A guy I work with said "there were no subtitles, it was too stupid to watch". I wonder if he got one of those bootleg copies.

Has anyone seen subtitles when the aliens are talking?

I loved this flick when it first came out.

It's completely over shadowed by films like Avatar now

The film makes a point though, if we had an alien race in our midst and we could contain them. That's probably how we would go about it.

Actually in South Africa there was a District 6

Its also interesting to see how this plays when the military operations are outsourced to a private company (Blackwater anyone)

Very interesting (and obviously different) as the humans are not the 'innocent' race.
