Buying a video camera for Christmas...

Anything in particular I should look for?

I don't want the most simple one in the world but I also don't need one that is super tech-advanced.

I would imagine memory is very important but not sure what other features to look for.

For what it's worth, I'm shocked at how cheap these things are on Amazon.
