The abortion rumor is something the left pulls out every election. Here is a story about Bob Dole being accused of paying for his girlfriend's abortion in the early 70's. The rumor was first reported by the Village Voice, then this radio guy decided he would the girl's name and in the process got sued.
"Former Sen. Bob Dole will submit to questioning by attorneys in a woman's lawsuit against a Kansas City radio talk show host who alleged Dole helped the woman get an abortion.
Dole is scheduled to depose in February.
In September 1996, KMBZ-AM radio show host Steve Glorioso said Dole "had an affair that was well known with another woman named Phyllis Wells. She got pregnant. With his consent, took her to KU Med (University of Kansas Medical Center). Had an abortion."
The woman, Phyllis Wells Smith, denies ever having an abortion. In January 1997 she sued Bonneville International Corp., at the time the owner of KMBZ, and later Glorioso, for defamation of character. Glorioso's show since has switched to another station, KPHN-AM.
Dole's lawyer, James F. Hibey, said Dole would appear and "categorically deny the allegations of Glorioso's report."

Isn't it amusing how the Republicans can put a different spin on things depending on whether is is Bush or Kerry? Last week they were jumping up and down over a report that Kerry had an affair with an intern. Now a story about Bush and they blame the media for publishing it. Where was the Drudge Report on this breaking news. Does head in the sand sound appropriate?
