Hi,

I'm building a new service to deliver live lines to smartphones and PDA's. Other than the obvious, getting the top sportsbooks and instant line moves, can anyone suggest what the service needs to offer in order to be something you would want to use?

Thanks,
Rick Kelly

DNoonan,

Thanks for your reply. Space is somewhat limited on the small WAP device screens, but those wil be items I will take to the programmer about tonight.

The bandwidth costs alone make it impossible to offer a live lines service for free. Throw in marketing, programming and developing new innovations, there has to be a cost. Not $550, but there has to be a cost.

Lander,

True enough. Your live lines service is excellent. What I'm putting together is a little different and we certainly don't have the support of DB.

I wish you a successful venture.

You might want to consider marketing your service as a "plugin" to existing services.

There are plenty of decent ones out there that would love to better themselves.

Just a thought - either way - good luck.

Back the the original topic ..

one feature that would be "cutting edge" would be alerts.

Let a user set a "strike price" on a line and when it moves to/past that price it text messages him.

I built a prototype/POC similiar to this with MSN and AOL IM but never released it due to legal concerns.

Thanks for the responses Lander.

You are right about the add-on possibilities. From what we have heard from sportsbooks, they like the idea for WAP devices, but are concerned about having their lines on a regular PC website due to agreements with other services. If the route to go is joining with an established service that wants to expand its capabilities then that might be the direction we go.

Your other ideas are ones we are currently working on. To start, alerts will likely be any move off the best line available for a game you choose. However, giving the user the option to pick the exact line they want to be alerted at is a goal we are shooting for as well.

Thanks again.
