<!-- End /PubSys/Story/MediaBox/MediaBox.comp --> <!--endclickprintexclude--> Orchard Park police are investigating a particularly gruesome killing, the beheading of a woman, after her husband — an influential member of the local Muslim community — reported her death to police Thursday.
Police identified the victim as Aasiya Z. Hassan, 37. Detectives have charged her husband, Muzzammil Hassan, 44, with second-degree murder.
"He came to the police station at 6:20 p.m. [Thursday] and told us that she was dead," Orchard Park Police Chief Andrew Benz said late this morning.
Muzzammil Hassan told police that his wife was at his business, Bridges TV, on Thorn Avenue in the village. Officers went to that location and discovered her body.
Muzzammil Hassan is the founder and chief executive officer of Bridges TV, which he launched in 2004, amid hopes that it would help portray Muslims in a more positive light.
The killing apparently occurred some time late Thursday afternoon. Detectives still are looking for the murder weapon.
"Obviously, this is the worst form of domestic violence possible," Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III said today.
Authorities say Aasiya Hassan recently had filed for divorce from her husband.
"She had an order of protection that had him out of the home as of Friday the 6th [of February]," Benz said.
Muzzammil Hassan was arraigned before Village Justice Deborah Chimes and sent to the Erie County Holding Center.

</center> It's so weird how a country where multiculturalist tolerance is enforced via elaborate micro-fascism could slip into something that seems very much like a pogrom:

Another anti-Semitic incident took place in a Canadian university Thursday when over 100 anti-Israel activists surrounded a campus building belonging to the Jewish student club 'Hillel' at York University, Toronto. The activists pounded on office doors while yelling out racial slurs. Campus security was forced to alert police to restore order and the latter demanded that the offices be shut down. An anti-Israel march is also scheduled for Friday, and 'Hillel' leaders have called on Jewish students to arrive with Israeli flags in order to show support for the country. But anti-Semitism also took its toll outside of the campus. A Jewish student reported receiving a phone call during which an unidentified person threatened his life and those of his family members if he were to continue his pro-Israeli activities in the university.​

Here's a first hand account from one of the students inside. I wouldn't even have found it except I did a second search after coming across that "the [police] demanded that the offices be shut down" thing. Turns out that's 100% true - because the police didn't have the time to protect the Jewish students. Unbelievable:

The students outside of the Hillel were shouting louder their anti-Israel slogans and banging on the floor and walls so hard that the lights outside the Hillel were flickering. As the students in Hillel began to grow uneasy and the feeling of being safe was diminishing, York security was called in to try and help break up the crowd but as any student who has been to York knows, the campus security is severely limited on the force that they can use and they were unable to break up the crowd. And, as a result we were encouraged by Hillel staff to call the Toronto Police to help disperse the crowd. Some students who had the local non-emergency number called that one but as panic was setting in with other students some called 911 as they were truly scared for their safety. Just as Toronto Police were arriving on campus, one pro-Palestinian student stood at the glass door of the Hillel, visible to the students in the Hillel, with his Kaffeiyah scarf pulled all the way up to his eyes. This is a tactic used by terrorist organizations such as Hamas and al-Qaeda to intimidate others, and quite frankly I was completely taken off-guard by the sight of this student and at that point fear began to trickle into me as well. This is something that goes beyond free speech and being anti-Israel and is tantamount to racism and discrimination. As the police arrived they stated that in a situation like this there is nothing they can do as they did not feel that there was an actual threat of violence, however, it was their belief that the possibility remained. They then told us that because they could not stand watch at the door all night, that it was highly recommended that we vacate the lounge immediately and they would assist us with safe passage through the crowd so as to prevent anything from occurring. And as 20 Jewish student walked single file through this unruly mob, they were pointing, laughing and chanting that we were "Racists on Campus!"​

This is the same country where it's in-bounds to compare Jews to Nazis - but where the same charge leveled against these genuine modern-day Nazis would end with a trip to the Star Chamber. And it's the exact same city where calls to wipe Israel off the planet are treated as mere anti-Zionism:

He said he also doesn't regret speaking out against Israel's recent aerial strikes in the Gaza Strip.
"It was a humanitarian crisis, and we supported it," Osman said.
Osman said he'd like to see all York students rally around a push for a 12 per cent refund of their fees to recoup money lost during the strike.
"I think it's a time that students need to be united," Osman said. "The Drop YFS campaign has created a divided campus. ... Our campus was divided for 12 weeks. What the Drop YFS is doing is dividing it even more."
Tensions came to a boil Wednesday when students opposed to the YFS executive held a news conference at the student centre to present a petition of 5,000 names demanding a new election.
There were more than 40 people inside the meeting, and close to 80 protesters outside. Some opponents tried to force their way in, slogans were shouted and the news conference was stopped.
When organizers then met at the Hillel office, chanting protesters gathered outside. Police were called and the Drop YFS group was escorted out.
Campus officials are checking the authenticity of signatures on the 195-page petition. Once verified, a new election can be held for the top five student government posts.
But Ferman acknowledged the current government is on its last legs, regardless of the effectiveness of the impeachment drive.
Elections for next year's government are scheduled for March 16, and the impeachment vote may overlap with those elections.
So be it, said Ferman. "A precedent needs to be set that when student government is not representing the needs of students, students will not stand for it," he said.
"Our petition is binding," said Ted Bethune, 22, an organizer of the Drop YFS coalition.

Attacks on Jews and Jewishness constitute the canary in the coal mine that tells us something is going seriously wrong. The UK's Community Security Trust reports as many attacks on Jews in the first weeks of 2009 as in the first six months of last year. As the world enters a new era of economic crisis, anti-Semitism is back.

Is it unreasonable to argue that the reason that there is worldwide anger against Israel but not against other regimes or religions that carry out massacres of Muslims is because the Israelis are Jews?

Jews are again made to feel they are not full citizens of the countries of their birth because they refuse to support the right of Hamas and Hizbullah to use terror attacks against Israeli civilians.

The canary in the coal mine seems in danger of its life once again.

I have first hand accounts with dealing with muslims--just to let you Muslim's know--you are annoying. I like white people way more, even if they are assholes. Muslims need to tone down their voice when speaking to me and show a little respect. You also stink, I know (a lot of) asians have a smell but god damn whatever you guys wear is like instant rotten ramen or something. I'm not sure if I have met a Muslim person that has not brought that stench to my office.

I am sure I have met at least 1 but probably under 5 persons that have been decent to me at MY PLACE OF BUSINESS. The whole praying thing, you should take it outside and respect one's property. I also quit offering coffee because those same people with the smell pillage it and make a mess in my lobby.
