It was a given.

2 teams asked for permission to speak to Koetter on the same day/night they let Lovie Smith go.

They basically didn't want to lose Koetter & risk Jameis Winston taking a step back so it was Dirk or Lovie.

As an Arizona State fan, I can attest that he is an absolute horrible head coach.

He's a prick and its all about him. Good coordinator? Yes.

Not head coaching material though. He's not a front man.

This...I lived in Phoenix when he was coach at ASU and this was the consesus opinion of him. Maybe getting clipped has changed him, dont know. He seems to have a connection with Jameis.

We all know a coaches' success usually boils down to how much talent they have to work with, so it's hard to judge anyone who comes in right away for any team in disarray.

But there's a reason other teams were interested in hiring Koetter away from the Bucsn as their head coach.

Most are impressed with how he groomed Matt Ryan & the Falcons offense, how Ryan took a step backwards when Koetter left, how he groomed Jameis Winston, and the Bucs organization fearing Winston might regress if they lose Koetter.

It was a no-brainer to choose Koetter over Lovie Smith based on that explained above & Smith making this team much worse than before he took over.

And again, in the end, it will all boil down to what kind of talent he has to work with.

Im still not sold on Winston being an elite QB.

He stunk it up last 4 games...

Bucs' Dirk Koetter says reliance on analytics is a 'freaking joke'.

TAMPA, Fla. --*Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter isn't a fan of football analytics.

"I trust my eyes, OK?" he said Wednesday. "I trust my eyes. I watch the tape. Trust me -- I watch a lot of tape, and I trust what my eyes tell me. So I don't need a freaking piece of paper with a bunch of numbers on there to tell me something that my eyes can see.

"Not to get pissed off, but that whole thing about looking at a piece of paper and having that tell you how to call a football game is a freaking joke, in my opinion. That's why I watch tape. Half the stuff on that paper, you can sort those stats any way you want to. But I'm going to trust my eyes. It's worked OK for me so far."

Did you see that press conference? :):)

Dirk pissed all over himself.

You can expect a lot of that, Tampa fans.

This +1. I think all of us in Arizona know how horrible of a coach he was. I almost spit up my beer when I read the topic title.
