Little information is known about the weekend incident at a Dallas nightclub that left Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib with a gunshot wound to the leg. As of Sunday, the team had reportedly not ruled out the possibility that Talib accidentally shot himself.Talib was released from the hospital after a short stay, as he was fortunate enough to only need stitches and not suffer any type of significant injury. Mike Klis of 9News in Denver was told by a source close to Talib that the three-time Pro Bowler was “accidentally” shot. What exactly does that mean?
The Broncos are currently investigating the incident. According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, rumors are swirling that Talib may have accidentally shot himself. Florio reports that the team was at least exploring that as a possibility shortly after the shooting.
Three people were reportedly shot during the fight at Vlive nightclub in Dallas, so there is a lot to sort through. If Talib was one of the people doing the shooting rather than just someone who was shot, he could be facing disciplinary action from the NFL as well as legal trouble. In 2011, Talib was charged with aggravated assault after he allegedly fired a gun at his sister’s boyfriend. The charges were later dropped.
Having to miss this trip with his teammates could wind up being the least of Talib’s worries.
