Poll: Bush Bigger Threat Than Saddam
(Reuters) - The British public sees President Bush as a greater threat to world peace than Iraq's Saddam Hussein, a poll published on Tuesday showed. It also believes that as long as United Nations weapons inspectors can do a useful job in Iraq, it would be wrong for the United States and Britain to attack. However, Britons say something has to be done about Saddam and suspect he is determined to hide his weapons of mass destruction from U.N. inspectors

I fancy those Brits are correct.

 

Bush's team has done the worst PR job possible with regards to it's Iraq - "we gotta bomb them now" policy.

They tried to bullshit the rest of the world with "we got secret evidence" crap.

One of Sadam's generals, made an excellent point on a recent TV interview. If the US does in fact have the coordinates of the underground labs in hand, as they have proclaimed, why not give them to the UN inspectors, so they can immediately search and distroy, without having to drop massive bombs to accomplish the same result. No reply from Washington.

So, in the view of many around the world, who looks and sounds stupid?

Sad thing is, Sadam probably does have WMD, and due to the ineptness of Bush's team, Bush is now backed up into a corner, all by himself.

People who don't support this war fail to look at the big picture. If we allow Saddam, (who has proven that he cares about nobody but himself) to continue to build up his weapons for the next 10 years. He could possibly have boatloads more WMD, nuclear weapons, and who knows what else.

That being said, who's to say he won;t use it on any country he wants to.

Saddam could care less about you, he could care less about me. I don't want to wait until we are at his mercy! Maybe these anti-war people do.

What, you mean like acts of terrorism increasing one-hundredfold if you US enters Iraq in defiance of the rest of the world? (Do we still childishly think that we're the pioneering rebel in this?) You mean the US losing credibility in front of most world leaders and the UN? You mean the US directly starting yet another war in the gulf to cover up the mistakes of "the father Bush" to both rid the world of Hussein and fail to acquire oil contracts there?

If the US can swing Turkey into the fold they can create a huge nutcracker for squeezing Saddo out.

The problem at the northern end is Turkish public opinion and the Kurdish/border situation.

A UN resolution, that passes, but is vetoed by the Frenchies etc, will still carry authority in the minds of many people.

So I do think they should push for that resolution, whether it passes or not.
Then get Turkey sorted with a nice, polite, respectful, equal partners meeting, where Unk sam hands over the baksheesh and gets his second front.

The only serious hurdle is the Kurdish thing.
I dont know how you can keep one side happy, without phucking over the other guy.
They hate each other bigtime.
It will take a real smart guy to sort that bit of the equation into a solid compromise.
(Something involving oil/money I suppose.)

 

Soon Bushs favorable rating will go thru the roof. You heard it hear first. 75% rating is only a couple months away. Blair will also be riding high soon. The liberals just hate that Bush is sticking to his word.

Bosnia was a huge embarrassment for europe.
We couldn't make a decision on what to do while they butchered each other bigtime, and it went on for MONTHS while the politicians arsed about.

Entire towns being ethnically cleansed while the european politicians wrung their hands.

Once the US started bombing then things finally got sorted.

So Uncle Sam did us a big favour there, and since hes not a european, he couldn't be accused of favouring one side over the other.

The facts are Saddam has the Weapons. He may not use them but what if he sells them to terrorist organizations (which the Bush administration says there are ties). Unless you have more info than the President I don;t see how you can dispute this.

No, these are not opinions. They are probabilities. There's a difference. They are facts that have yet to happen and might not ever come to pass...but I wouldn't bet either way.

This is reasoning I just don't buy.

The people elect the president. He is a public servant. Period. If the lives of his constituency are at stake and he is witholding information that might save/condemn them, not releasing such info. would be grounds for impeachment.

Remember the "We the people" part...

The last US election was a farce and there should have been a re-run.

And now hes the driving force behind a war that could affect a lot of people, through a lot of generations.

He seems pretty dim too....unlike his pop.
