I can not believe I was a Repub at once point....Frist has doomed himself politically so im comforted by that ...what that ignorant idiot did backfired on him ...good stuff :o)

Alot of people argue that dems and repubs are all the same. But in reality they are not. Dems are corrupt, yes. But when it comes to limiting our rights the republicans are far more dangerous.

And i am a confessed schmuck that voted for bush twice. :hanging:

That pretty much sums up my thoughts. It's about time, but may be a little late.

I think you're being far too negative. This statement amounts to an official government position since it comes from a UK cabinet minister.

It's also being released just before the international meeting, that has been scheduled for months. No doubt the US action will now be added to the agenda and it would not be surprising if more international action through the WTO was taken against US protectionism. This is the ideal venue for Antigua to lobby delegates to get all the involved governments on board, especially since the US won't be there to run threats and interference.

Now you might say this is slow and too late but this is how governments work. After all its not as if the UIGEA was passed overnight without several years of planning.

Nice hype by the media. They call that an attack? Just trying to stir shit up. The rest of the world is going to go about being world-class and moving things forward. We will just be far behind the times in this regard, but it isn't the only thing. Look at how these right wing nuts want us pretty much to ban cloning and anything to do with stem cells for their religious reasons. Rest of the world pays them no heed and will take the lead on these things while hundreds or thousands of Americans will suffer to make the church crowd feel good about themselves.

Gambling is just a stupid little nick on the US stupidity. The law is stupid, useless, and will not change a thing.

A much much bigger issue right now is stem cell research. Still cant do it here... What does the US think? It won't happen elsewhere... Idiots -that way other countries can own the patents and make the bucks and taxes!

Oh. I see, now they want to open there moths and say something.

I suppose after awhile you get tired of running away like dogs.

The US can and will do as it pleases. Nothing the UK or anyone else says would change that.

I guess the only thing that changes for them is they focus on their own internal markets and don't get to expand into the US. It hurts their potential growth rather than current profits.

Why would representatives of the US attend? Its just another case of them being right, and knowing whats right for the entire World, and the rest of the World being wrong. They dont need to hear how wrong everyone else is when they already know.

Would love to see the rest of the world (everyone but the US) come together, regulate it and have some standards put in place.

Looks like the US players might get shut out on this one. Feel sorry for your guys/gals.

Respectfully sean but you are totally wrong here. Stem cell research of any kind is not illegal here in the USA. To clone a human being I think was declared illegal but stem cells are not. The only thing that the Gov has said is that they wont pay for it. There is a lot of stem cell research currently going on, mostly on adult stem cells but some on embryonic ones as well. Ask yourself this. With the billions of dollars the pharms spend each year on research and since it is not illegal to do it, why dont they put their own dollars into embryonic stem cell research? Because it has never shown any likelihood of success. There has never been a single case of success in any of their research. Nada, zip, zilch! There has been some with adult stem cells but none with embryonic ones. The Pharms arent going to spend money if it shows no promiise of big money down the road. So what's the fight about? The money of course. If the Pharms can get the gov to pony up billions of dollars then they can do what they want with it and add to their already enormous profits.
