Big, tough Enforcers are being forced out of the NHL as the league is trying
to limit excess fighting majors. I personally like fighting in the game but that's
a topic for another day. Most of the familiar enforcers are either out of hockey
or in the minor leagues. McGrattan played for the San Diego Gulls last season
but still earned a nice $700,000 salary.

My favorite enforcer of all time was frank "the animal" bialowas ..

He played a couple games with the maple leafs in the mid 90's but was primarily in the ahl the majority of his career.. I use to watch him when he played for the phantoms, he would just destroy everybody!

It is true tho, the days of the nhl enforcer are being fazed out

If you are into college football...enter my $100 beer money contest in the CFB Forum.
Just guess the score of the Alabama/Southern Cal game. Cost you nothing!

Davey, my all time favorite Enforcer is the late Bob Probert. He fought some demons early in his
career with drugs and alcohol but managed to play 18 years in the NHL with Detroit and
Chicago. I have watched every fight Probert has been involved in on YouTube...and he won
most of them...even when he was in his late 30's.

Probert's battles with Domi, McSorley and Grimson where the best in NHL history. Also, his
two fights with Craig Coxe are NHL fight YouTube favorites.

Thanks Davey...I love watching these old timers go at it.

Some enforcers loved to fight...Tony Twist was one of them.
He and Rob Ray, another guy who loved his job had some slobberknockers.

Davey, you as a Flyer fan know Craig Berube was as tough as they come. The Chief would
drop the gloves with anyone and he could go.

Just got out of college and had moved to Atlanta when the Atlanta Flames came to town.
Saw Dave Shultz and the Broad Street Bullies every game as a season ticket holder.
Hated when the Flames moved to Calgary. By the way, Bernie Parent during the Flyers
two year Stanley Cup run played as well as any goalie in the history of the NHL. He was
unbelievable.

Parent's stats are still to this day up there with the all timers 40 years later

The Flyers have always had some kind of bad ass enforcer or 2.. I was born in 84, so i never had a chance to see the bullies play. Dave Brown was my ol' man's favorite, He's still got his jersey, posters and all kinds of dave brown newspaper clippings in his basement. For a couple seasons the flyers had both brown and berube playing. I really have no recollection of his fights in the 80's, but he came back for 4 seasons in the early 90's and i remember getting to watch him whoop peoples asses live at the spectrum...

Hey if you ever get some free time & want to watch a REALLY GOOD hockey documentary on Chris Nilan called "The Last Gladiators" I highly Recommend it. Its about an hour and a half long.
It use to be available to watch on youtube for free, but i think copyrights got involved, so now they charge.
Here's the preview trailer for it

Here's a link where you can stream the documentary for free online. Im watching it again right now, crystal clear.
you may or may not have to punch in your birthday when the page loads and it'll start streaming right away.. No virus's or malware, no need to worry!

Yeah Davey, I've watched "The Last Glidiators" several times. I'm not a big fan of Chris
Nilan. My book, he was a fighter but not really an Enforcer. Just my opinion.

Bobby Orr is my all-time favored hockey player...best in NHL history to me. You as a
"true" hockey guy or anyone who loves hockey will like. Mr. Orr is a class act.

Peter Mansbridge Interview - Bobby Orr - YouTube

Hope you will post this Mr. D............thanks in advance.

**By the way, I agree with your Dad about Dave Brown. I have him in my all-time BEST
ENFORCERS. Brownie would hurt you.
