What up guys.
Just a heads up, I was up in Tahoe this weekend and checked out some of the baseball futures odds.

At the Cal Neva Race and Sportsbook, you can get the Brewers at:

+600 to win the Pennant
+1800 to win the World Series

If you look online, it's about +300 or +400 for the Pennant, and about +800 to win the World Series. I'm not sure whats up with that particular book, because even some of the other Sportsbooks up there didn't have odds that good. I'm guessing it's just a lot of Cubs money there, since Cal Neva is a pretty big book.

I put a hundred on each, and am wishing I put a little more. Looks like Gallardo may be back for Sept/the playoffs, and that would put their rotation at CC, Sheets, Gallardo, and Parra. Me likey.

You should have saved your money IMO. Sheets is due to go down with injury and Gallardo is done for the year with a knee injury. Bullpen is terrible. Think they are hot at the wrong time. BOL though.

Actually, it's looking like Gallardo could be ok by September... and that means they should put him in the bullpen.. It both eases his way back on the mound AND plugs a major hole in their 'pen.

Love the BRewers bets.

They have announced his season was over if they are going to bring him back now that is a big mistake on their part let the guy heal completely and pitch next year.

Well whatever they 'announced', he's currently on track to return in Sept....so even calling that optimistic, Oct looks like a real possibility.

Also, nice crystal ball on on Sheets. Thanks for the insight.....I guess.

Either way the point is the odds are crazy at that particular book, considering what they are on the internet. As long as the Brewers get through the first round of the playoffs, you can hedge money on the 6 to 1 Pennant odds.

ps....Looper, Wainwright and Lohse will all have Tommy John within a month.

Ace up their sleeve: Now that the Brewers have added Sabathia, how strong would they be in the final weeks if young right-hander Yovani Gallardo returns from his knee injury? Gallardo suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee on May 1 in Chicago and was presumed lost for the season.
But Gallardo and the Brewers still have hope — albeit slim — that he could return sometime in September. He has not begun to throw yet but is making nice progress in the rehabilitation program on the knee.
When Gallardo tore cartilage in his left knee before the start of spring training, he returned to action on April 20. Gallardo was in his third start when he tore his ACL in a collision at first base.
“I would like to pitch before the end of the year,” Gallardo said. “That’s what I’m shooting for. If I’m not ready, it’s not worth taking the risk. But everything’s going good.
“I’m going to do everything possible to stay on the right track. I’m not counting on it but hopefully I can come back (in September). That’s my goal.”
Asked if he thought Gallardo would pitch again in 2008, Melvin said, “I guess it would be a bonus if we got him. It would be a nice bonus.”

Sorry that you deny Sheets being injury-prone. I still don't think the Brewers should force this kid into action this season I doubt he will be strong anyway. I agree taking a shot with the balloned odds is ok just not sure I agree sorry.

I don't deny that Sheets has had some injuries in the past (though some of them a bit fluky), but predicting he will be injured soon is just kind of silly. Injuries happen all the time, to every team.

The Brewers main competition is the Cubs.....quick....name me a Cubs starting pitcher that is equally if not more injury prone then Sheets. :howdy:
Based on your "pitcher with a track record of injury" reasoning, the bet looks even better.

BOL man. Sorry I don't agree. Hope you win as I have nothing as far as futures go. All I was saying is that I'm not sure I could back a team that has a great regular season 1-2 punch. Problem is Sheets is injury prone and CC has not pitched well in his career in the playoffs (small sample). Bats have never seen the playoffs either and that should be enough I think to shy away from this bet. Like I said I have no rooting interest as I don't have a future placed so GL.

No worries man. I only have a small amount on it anyway.
Hoping the Brewers can get past the first round and I can hedge the Pennant bet.

Agree with you there. The bullpen is their weakness for sure. However in the playoffs (esp a 5 game series) the 4th and 5th starters can be moved to the pen. Those guys ain't great, but it is some help. Torres has been very decent for them, and maybe a bit over used as of late since the Brewers have been winning so often.

Also, we'll see if they're done making moves. Could be a good bullpen arm on the way.

Either way, I really only see the Cubs being equal to or better in the NL....and since they cannot play eachother in the 1st round, I like the Brewers chances of at least making it to that 2nd round.
At the +600....that's a good amount of room to guarantee some money.
