below says it all..conceded arrogant piece of crap..(can't ya tell I'm a cheesehead LOL)..Mentioned above, this is a non story until Sept 9th/12th..And for anyone who says QB does not matter with the Vikings, or any team, needs to put the crack pipe down. You put 9-10 in the box and let Sage beat you downfield. I am not afraid of that are you?? Well maybe Vikings611 is...hahaha

Favre has waffled on retiring every summer since 2006. It led to an ugly parting with the Packers that got him traded from Green Bay to the Jets in 2008. After a so-so season in New York, he announced his retirement in early 2009 for the second time, then reconsidered and signed with the Vikings.

This has to be frustrating to Vikings front office considering they could have went after McNabb during the offseason. Now look at the poor NFL with their opening game featuring the T.Jackson led Vikes against the Saints.:ohno: You think Goodell didn't bank on Favre coming back.

I think w/ Favre vikes are a legit SB contender and a 13-3, 12-4 type team. Without him and TJax at QB they're 10-6, 9-7ish.

Funny thing is they could of gotten McNabb or JCampbell assuming Favre is really retiring had he let them know way earlier. Sucks for them cause they've got all the pieces to win it all but now it just got a whole lot harder.

They won 10 games with Tavaris Jackson in 2008. No one is saying QB isn't important... We are saying this team is strong enough everywhere else to win 10 without Favre.

Favre is probably out on his tractor and doesn't even know all of this is going on, on ESPN, right now.

Exactly, cleanly put the ball in AP's gut, have the front block for him, make smart downfield decisions, and Vikes win 10 or 11.

I think they beat New Orleans to start the season. Revenge game and Minnesota is the better team.

I see the losses coming @Jets, @Patriots, @Packers, and maybe the Giants or Cowboys win games in Minnesota. @Philly isn't nearly as tough as in previous seasons. I just think that the Vikings are stacked on the offensive and defensive lines and will overpower most teams they play.

Minn w/o Favre is better than the Saints? Um...you should get Vikes +220 or so on the ML so good luck.

Minn went 10-6 in 2008 and then basically got handled at home in rd 1 vs Philly. Their schedule that year wasn't nearly as hard as it is this year. The whole division is better, gotta face NE/NYJ/Mia/Dal/Phi/NYG/NO/GB 2X.

I see them going 9-7 or so and really just being a pretender. If they got mcnabb or j campbell i'd say 12-4 or 13-3 just like last year.

cbs sports writer Pat Kirwan is dismissing these reports as a money ploy....he believes Brett is doing this to get the Vikes to throw some more money on the table

He is still a strong believer that Favre will be under center when they open up against the Saints. Stating until he hears it direct from Favre's mouth it's not a done deal.

Will be a good time to get futures on the Vikes after they go up today...

Hoping for a better price but I'll likely be on Minnesota regardless.

jake t- not sure why your so in love with the vikes, tjack at qb would be a drop off, o-line was pretty bad at run blocking last yr, and sidney rice has a nagging hip issue (dont forget he sucked before favre got there). Honestly think the saints would roll @ the dome vs the favreless vikings. 34-17 or something

They were in a bit of a transitional period. They really missed Matt Birk at center. Loadholt also had limited experience with Ryan Cook the better player the two years prior. Now those guys have a year of experience and there are few lines in the world that boast a side as good as McKinnie and Hutchinson. Herrerra does a good job also. They should get back to 2008 levels this time around.

The report comes from the Herald's Al Jones, who often breaks the most crucial Favre news. "Brett has not made a commitment to play or a decision to return at this point," said the source, presumably a close family member. Meanwhile, rumors continue to circulate that Favre is making a power play for more money. Favre's former Packers teammate LeRoy Butler told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel that he recently heard Favre wanted a new three-year contract from the Vikings worth $13M annually. If Butler's story is true, Favre not only wants to play in 2010. He wants to play in 2011 and 2012, too.

Gotta love if Favre still plays...because it makes all the media that love covering his every single "shit" look like IDIOTS. ESPN sat there and ran top Brett Favre highlights from last season.:ohno:
