ESPN Radio (Mike and Mike Show) reporting that Brett Farve will retire before the 2008 season begins.

The most storied quarterback career in NFL history is coming to a close.

FOXSports.com has learned that legendary quarterback Brett Favre has decided to retire. In fact, it's believed he informed the Packers of his decision within the last few days, although it's unclear when Favre and the team will make his decision known.

why now?

If he was going to you would have thought it would have been when that team sucked to high hell, they are VERY good now in the mediocre NFC..

Pack didn't steal Moss away from Pats was the straw.
No Moss no Favre.

Very surprised if he does retire. After last season and being so close to going to the Superbowl, I thought he would play one more year. Guy is a hell of a player with a huge heart, would miss watching him play on Sundays! Hope he changes his mind and plays one more year.

He was somewhat lucky to stay injury free. But there are no QB's in the HOF who are there solely because they were lucky.
