not a shocker. why butt heads with barn, lsu, bama, and the miss' every year?

plus, big success in little 10 and a defensive mind.... from scoop:

Update> Per sources, Nebraska is targeting Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema and is in serious talks with him. Eichorst and Bielema has an extensive relationship from their time at Wisconsin (Eichorst served as Wisconsin’s second-in-command from 2006-11) and from what we hear this got serious quick. More to come…
Bret’s buyout clause (in short, $2.5M today, $2M come January):

I can tell you the smash-mouth style would be welcomed, but he'd have to grow on Nebraskans. He basically called Nebraska soft....which was true and then preceded to score 70 on them... but those little jabs get under the skin easy....it would make the Wisconsin-Nebraska game very interesting

He left Wisky. Why go to Nebraska? No upgrade there. He is a competitive type coach, so why leave the best division in the best Conference in College Football? He just needs some talent at the qb position which he hasn't had since he got there. He has a mind of an elephant (and a body too) and will remember these last two years of getting his behind kicked. He wants to show his coaching style fits the SEC. He has made big strides in two short years. He stays put in Arkansas.

He left Wiscy because they wouldn't give him money to pay his assistants. Nebraska facilities is an upgrade over Wisconsin. All I can say about the division is his path to win a title would be easier.....and $$$

HE won't leave unless he wants to live in the Midwest..... He has built a monster in his short time at arkansas... They lost so many close games simply because of their QBs inablity to move the ball thru the air... With even an average qb they would have upset 2-3 teams... Mark my words, he is building a top tier program there in arkansas... He can get better recruits in the south than in the Midwest. That's a proven fact... If he can convince a QB to join that program the sec west teams better be ready for their most physical game they'll play all year.. That dude lives on breaking down the other teams morale and will to win by repeatedly crushing you at the line of scrimmage. He and David shaw have the same philosophy... Run the ball, protect the ball, control the clock, control the tempo of the game.... Ultimately, win the game.... Not saying it works every time, but it is effective in today's age of spread football. If he leaves he is a moron

I will be shocked if he even considers the Nebraska job. He has paid his dues the last two years and now he knows that he can field a competitive team capable of winning each Saturday. Look out if Ole Miss and Mississippi St teams regress back to previous seasons, he takes great glee in running up the scores.

I heard that part of the reason for leaving Wisky was that Bielema's wife didn't like the cold of Madison. I doubt if she's going to like Lincoln's cold weather any better...

I'm as shocked as anybody that this is even the target....but he does have a recent history of changing jobs. People were very surprised he left Wisconsin.

Scoop guy on Nebraska sports radio saying it was going to happen in 48 hours or less, wasn't a leaked false-story because it wasn't coming from Brett's people, then this update

3:40 Update>
Chris Low of ESPN spoke with Bret Bielema who says he plans to remain at Arkansas.

Agreed. He left because he got more $$$ for his coaches. The guy wants to take care of his coaches, can't blame him. He's an Iowa guy though and the thought was if that job ever came open he would be high on the list. This would be a home run hire for 'Corn

Yeah. Would have been a homerun for NU and pissed on Wiscy and Iowa at the same time. Honestly, when this started I thought, with the AD comments, they were looking at trying to poach an SEC guy. Dan Mullen was the one that made sense, to me.

Warm enough to afford an extra coat and some long underwear...
You could buy a lot of long undies and a XXXL coat.
If I'm Nebraska, if I can't get Bielema, I'd go after Paul Chryst. What ever those two guys do, they always have big nasty OL's and and productive run games. I think on the field they would fit in well.

Neb wouldn't be searching for a guy that bailed on a well established program like he did in Wisc.
The only way he would go if he could see the handwriting on the wall at ARK in regards to recruiting abilities or lack thereof.
Jim Tressel's name has been bouncing around the circuit along with a few others. Supposedly the AD is going out to Oakland

Nebraska is in the wrong conference. They will be a 9 win team in the Big 10 most of the time. They could have dominated the Big 12. Caca happens.
