Wade Milller becomes a free agent
Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Starting pitcher Wade Miller, who missed a good portion of the 2004 season with Houston due to a rotator cuff injury, was not tendered a contract for 2005 and has become a free agent.
Midnight (et) Monday was the deadline for teams to tender contracts to arbitration-eligible players on their 40-man rosters. Players who were not offered contracts became free agents.
The 28-year-old Miller was a force in Houston's rotation from 2001-03 with a 45-25 mark in that period. The righthander went 7-7 with a 3.35 ERA in 15 starts last season, but didn't pitch after June 25.
