According to TMZ, rock legend David Bowie has died of cancer while surrounded by his family:
Groundbreaking rock star David Bowie died Sunday from cancer at the age of 69. Bowie was surrounded by his family when he died ... according to the announcement posted on his Facebook page. He'd been diagnosed with cancer 18 months ago.
He was a huge innovator in glam rock, art rock, dance, punk and electronica ... starting in the 60s and up through the 90s. Bowie made a splash in the 60s with his famed Ziggy Stardust alter ego and cranked out hits like ... "Major Tom," and "Ziggy Stardust," "All the Young Dudes," "Let's Dance," and "Modern Love."
He was also successful as an actor and producer -- and got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996. He'd been married to supermodel Iman since 1992.
Bowie had just released his 25th album, "Blackstar" ... on January 8th, which was also his birthday.
