Viciedo batted .268 with three home runs and seven RBI in 27 games earlier this season with the White Sox. He was starting to slump badly when he was sent back down in August.
Torres, who was sent down when Manny Ramirez was acquired, will join the White Sox for the third time this season. He was 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA over two outings -- one start -- with the major-league team.
Torres went 9-9 with a 3.42 ERA in 27 appearances (25 starts) for Charlotte. He was third in the International League in strikeouts (140) and innings pitched (160 1/3). He was sixth in ERA.
The moves bring the current roster to 32 members.
