(CNN)A police officer has been shot deadTuesday in Lake County, Illinois, authorities say, and there's a hunt on for multiple people suspected in the attack.
Law enforcement on foot and in helicopters are combing the area, said Lake County Sheriff's Sgt. Christopher Covelli.

Canine units have also been dispatched, and residents have been asked to remain inside their homes and businesses, he said.

Before the color of the subjects is known.....let's be sure that we don't blame guns or gun laws. After all....the amendment written when people died from common colds and we didn't have police forces or street lights.....is most important here. It must be protected.

I'm sure the Officers' Family will be comforted by the fact that this area has some of the strictest gun laws in the entire Nation.
