Breaking news: Blast hits U.S. Embassy compound in Athens

ATHENS, Greece (CNN) -- An explosion shook the U.S. Embassy in Athens, Greece, early Friday morning, causing no injuries, police said.
A rocket-propelled grenade launched from across the street in busy downtown Athens could have been the cause, Greek counterterrorism authorities told CNN.
Counterterrorism and embassy security officials immediately began inspecting the area and nearby buildings.
The only damage captured by television cameras after the attack was a window blown out on an upper floor. Embassy staff members said they saw scattered glass on the floor.
The explosion occurred close to the ambassador's office, but police said the ambassador was in a safe location.
Police cordoned off streets around the embassy after the blast, causing a near-standstill of traffic during morning rush hour.
The embassy in Athens was the target of a rocket-propelled grenade attack on February 15, 1996. That attack caused minor damage.

It's amazing that everybody except the U.S. citizens stand up to this goverment that isn't going to stop until everybody has a micro-chip in them and has to plan their days before hand with a computer so the goverment knows where you're at without using any man power.

In 50 years from now our grand children will hate all of us for not stopping this out of control goverment and who is really running it.

You can put the blame for that attack squarely on the shoulders of this george bush! I have not seen a person with more wanton disregard for the law international or otherwise all my life.

The guy orders the raid on the Iranian embassy in Iraq where people are illegally detained and they also illegally arrest iranian diplomats in IRaq who were actually invited by the IRaqi president!

Its one thing enforcing security, its a whole other thing when you violate the sovereignity of a nation (yes embassies are sovereign)

A few weeks later you have an attack on an american embassy. Some morons on here will say that its coincidence!!! (yeah right)

For the same reason everyone hates the bully in Highschool yet.........it would be ok to be a bully and benefit from your 'power'?

Sovereignity doesn't matter anymore. Your country now has laws that allow your President to declare anyone an illegal combatant, pick them up anywhere in the world and imprison them for life.

All this was passed by your Congress and some of your citizens wonder why the rest of the world hates (doesn't trust) you.
