If the aim of these terrorists was to fill Londoners with terror their attacks have utterly failed. I am amazed with the calmness and matter of fact way in which people are responding in London to these attacks. It has just been announced that a pretty much full underground service will be operational tommorow.

The British of course includes the celts (Scots and Welsh) who originally occupied the islands before the Roman invasion. The Normans came later from France in 1066. Since then the Vikings, Spanish, French (for 100years) and Germans (twice) all tried and failed to invade.
The population now though includes large and numerous ethnic groups who have set-up home in the UK.

Winbet, your slang is foreign to me. What does give a toss mean? Origin? I have some English friends over here, and they seldom if ever have any kind words about the Irish. When you live in London, but are Irish do you feel any resentment or prejudice? I doubt I could even tell an Irish accent from a British accent. Excuse my ignorance but I have no idea. Do the Irish respect the monarchy? I hope these are not tasteless questions.

As for accents, its all about regular listening, I can tell which part of London someone comes from, East, South or North by their words. Thanks Winbet, I appreciate the education. I am always eager to learn about different cultures. I dated a woman from Edinborough, is that right? Scottish. She was an admirer of the monarchy also. On a serious note though, Israel has been fighting against muslims for over 60 years now, have they won the war as of yet?
Would you be happy having the same number of terrorist events that occurred last year in Israel occur over here too? Do you even think life would be even worth it if we had half the number of attacks that the Israelis suffered last year?
If not why would any one propose approaching terrorism using methods that have proven not to work and have a 60 year long test case that has shown total failure thus far?
Also Israel has started to make concessions to the PLO, and has seen some what of a decline in attacks, are you willing to chalk this up to clerics blown up wheel chairs or actual peace talks and negotiations between the two?

They have targeted leadership with some positive results. They tried many other methods to no avail. They also blew up the "Engineer" with a c4 cel phone. Hello, boom. They have reduced the number of attacks, but more importantly, the facilitators of the attacks. I think this is the best method they have come up with yet. Better than blowing up border refugee camps. The wheelchair cleric was a mastermind of many attacks, and they said his number had come up, sort of like Baskin Robbins, but an undersirable flavor. Too bad for him, wheelchair or not. He was creating bad apples and got to hang with Allah like he wished. I think they found one wheel after the Hellfire direct hit him. Maybe a bodyguard or two. You should read some of the hardcore Jewish blog. Their point was, our buses are being bombed anyway, why not take out those who are ordering it. Like you said, they have been on color Red terrorist alert for decades, while we are just learning it. They are also on a war alert constantly. I prefer my quiet bedroom community, where my biggest fear is someone taking my CD's out of my unlocked truck.
