2.5* Orlando Magic 1st Half +5 -115
Only one play is obvious to me here, and that is the Magic 1st Half.
Why?
1. The strategy changed for Cleveland last game. The strategy now appears to be take Lebron out of the game for the first half, let his supporting cast get into the rhythm of the game, knock down shots, etc. Then, play Lebron for all 24 mins 2nd half and close strong. After the Cavs coach was criticized last game for not resting Lebron 2nd half, no doubt he gives Lebron plenty of breathing room tonight OR instructs Lebron to pace himself like in the 1st half last game and Lebron stands and dishes it off.
2. Orlando wants to bury these guys early. Kill their spirits. Don't let Cleveland get up on you early, blow you out and then take it back to Orlando with momentum. Orlando is going to come out strong here and they will play hard in the 1st half. If Cleveland wins this game, it is going to be from a strong finish.
3. Good value play. Full game is Magic +7, but i get 5 for the half? Good value here, especially for a team that shoots the 3-ball well and has already won in this building.
Don't just assume Cleveland comes out on fire today just because the series has seen that trend. Orlando has still proven to be the better team here, and they mentally killd Cleveland's spirit last game. That was a must-win game for Cleveland - they had to have that one for their egos and confidence. Now that is shot. They have a long climb ahead of them, and when you have to win 3 games straight, you don't blow your load 1st half of the first game. AND if you remember how Cleveland does in these elimination type games, they trailed Boston last year at half in the elimination game and they trailed the Spurs at half in the elimination game in the Finals. My point here is it has always been these guys strategy to save themselves for the 2nd half with Lebron.
ANd if even if the Cavs lead at half, will they be blowing out the Magic by 6+? I don't think so.
Taking the Magic 1st half for a small/average sized play.
