4* Orlando Magic -1.5 -110
Once again, the Magic are being given no respect, a role they thrive in.
According to the mainstream thought, the Magic only won the game because Kobe didn't close it. The magic only won the game because they shot an NBA Historical percentage from the field, and "still only won by 4 points."
The Magic had a lot of stupid turnovers, and they found a way to win, and if that means they need to make every freakin shot they take, then that's what they did. The Magic responded in a must-win situation, and they did whatever needed to be done to get the win. If that meant shatter records in the process, then so be it. That's the mark of a great team, not a weakness. And frankly, I'm not ready to fade a team that is shooting that well at home right now. The basket must look like a hula-hoop. It's the mark of a team I want to back when in a must-win situation.
That is what the Magic face again tonight. Must-win. At home, down 2-1, they can tie this thing up, or all but seal their fate here tonight.
I love that Rafer Alston is back to his old self. I love that the Magic are the hot shooting team here. I love the disrespect being given to the Magic.
Once again, the Magic could have easily swept the Cavs if it weren't for Lebron's buzzer beater. The Magic could also easily be up 2-1 in this series if it weren't for a missed tip in. I still give a complete mulligan to that game 1 performance due to the dominant shooting team suffering from the long layoff. That 1st game is long gone. Magic have been very competitve in this series, and are still arguably the better team.
At home in a must-win, I like the better team, the hotter team, the team with their backs against the wall fnding their rhythm vs. a team struggling to make foul shots down the stretch and up 2-1 in a comfy spot.
Let's not forget, the Lakers continue to be hyped by the media, and overvalued by the public. No better evidence then the trend that the Lakers being 2-11-1 ATS in their last 14 NBA Championship games. The books have made a killing over the years on people betting on the Lakers in the NBA Finals.
Public heavy on the Lakers tonight yet again. They can't get that game 1 win out of their head.
Magic roll tonight - relatively easy I believe as sometimes when you know your opponent is shooting lights out the way the Magic are, you come back next game and try to do too much to match it. Lakers struggle tonight on the road.
