5 straight winning days, and rolling right now. Continuing today to bust through 40 units...

Cleveland recalls Fausto Carmona today to start because of another injury. Fausto's back was against the wall his last 2 starts, and he went out and pitched phenomenally, only to get sent down to the minors. That is very discourgaing for a young pitcher, to go out and dominate and then get sent packing, and I think Fausto realizes now, it doesn't matter how well he pitches, he will probably get sent packing again upon Westbrook's return.
Fausto has good stuff, there is no doubt about it. But he has a tendency to get too much of the strike zone. When he is on, his low-mid 90's fastball is sinking down in the zone. When he isn't, he lays 93 MPH heat right over the dish. With his confidence a little shaken today after getting sent packing, I think Carmona will have a tough road start on his hands here at Camden Yards, where the Orioles have owned the Indians.
After Carmona went 8.1 IP in his last start, I don't see Carmona going very deep into this game, not only because he should be a little more fatigued than usual after going that deep, but also just a natural let down for a young guy still feeling his way through and trying to figure out how to be consistent in this league....and that means the Indian bullpen will have to play out in this game. The weakness of this Indians team is pitching, and that can hurt them today.
How much run support will Carmona get in this game? The Indians are notorious for lighting up the scoreboard one day, and coming out the next and laying an egg. After double digit hits and 9 runs scored yesterday, and I can definitely see the crafty veteran Steve Trachsel offering a change of pace in this game with his full reportoire of pitches and giving these Indian hitters a different look. Trachsel has had good success for this Indians lineup, holding them to a .211 average over 57 at bats and just 1 homerun. At home, Trachsel pitches at Camden Yards, a Pitcher's park. With his wide array of pitches, he will continue to keep the Indians off balance, on their front foots, and keep balls in the yard. Camden Yards currently ranks 2nd to last in least homeruns, and the Indians are a team that looks for the big homerun blow with guys like Sizemore, Haffner, etc. It is no coincidence that Trachsel has been outstanding at home so far this year, holding opponents to a batting average under .200. Expect more lazy fly balls today at Camden for Trachsel, and for the Orioles to continue their hot hitting, and recent dominance over the Indians.
