Seriously you need to get a clue, Washington State is the best team in the country & would beat your Gators by double digits!

Seriously though, keep up the great work!

Box will you tell me how you read that?

take the two teams that are playing, subtract their differences, factor in 3 points for homefield and 0-15 points for motivation/intensity/letdown, etc

So Florida is 37.44 and Vandy is 9.52.

37.44-9.52 = 27.92 - 3 = 24.92.

Motivation is winning the SECE; letdown is post LSU/UGA - maybe a little lean to letdown...no more than 2-3 pts. This team is on a roll.

24.92 - 3 = 21.92

In the past I have always bet Vandy in this spot. But something's turning me toward UF. They are playing like they are on a mission and I'm not sure it matters that last week was UGA or if it had been Citadel. They want to destroy and are playing like it. (See the Kentucky game for example). I'm making a small play on UF -23.

Vandy has all of the motivation here, no doubt about it.

You cant let emotion get in the way when factoring in motivation. Because it can be twisted anyway the capper sees fit.

Vandy at home at night, in primetime, as a home underdog is usually 12-15 points right off the bat.

Factor in the let down spot for FL, the biggest game of the year for Vandy, etc and way too much motivation for Vandy here. It is a c lassic motivation spot for Vandy, there isnt much else that could possibly go in their favor here. Florida can clinch the east is not enough to outlast everything Vandy has going for them in this game and simple human nature will not allow Florida to match Vandys intensity in this game.

Florida WILL NOT continue to win the way they have every single week and continue steam roll their opponents the way they have been. There will be a tight game or two down the stretch and this looks like one of them.

Florida wins this one by 2 TDs, IMO.

You should look at how Urban Meyers flroida teams have done after their rivalry games. I dont know the answer, but I'd be interested to see.

Vandy always has all of the motivation so I lean to that being more moot than useful.

You could be right, but I would have expected a let down against UK. UK's defense is as good or better than Vandy's and both are pathetic on offense.

ATS after rivalry games?

In 05 after losing to LSU UF beat UGA then beat Vandy in that OT game.

In 06 UF lost to Auburn , then beat UGA and Vandy

In 07, beat LSU, lost to UGA, beat Vandy.

It's tough to gauge bec Meyer finally has some offense and defense together. He's never had that before. 06 - horrible offense, great defense; 07 horrible defense, great offense; 08 - great offense, good defense.

NOTES:

1. Nobody is as good as Florida has appeared to be the past few weeks. Meaning - while they have played outstanding football, they have been helped by some poor play the past few weeks, inflating scores for them a bit more than they should have been. That being said, there is little doubt Florida is head and shoulders better than the past few teams they have played. Every single model that I use to cap games (I have 3, one of them is my "favorite" that I post in this thread) has Florida has the best team in the country. These "models" take into account offense, defense, special teams, penalties, turnovers, strength of schedule, etc. I had UF as a 17 point favorite vs. UGA and I felt that was dead on after UGA quit late. Besides penalties, Florida is an outstanding top 5 team in every facet of the game - no other team is as complete as UF when ranked statistically.

2. Careful with logos. When you really break it down, some people may play schools based on helmets and logos and past success and they may be way off base. Lots of money to be made, betting or fading teams with pretty or ugly logos. Michigan is PUTRID and capable of getting blown out by any opponent in America sans Washing and Washington State. Meanwhile, TCU and Boise State look to be for real. Ball St, Minnesota, Tulsa, Buffalo all playing very good football. TCU is playing well in all areas of the game and when you factor strength of schedule in, they are right in the mix of things.

3. Nice time of year to use BOWL GAME ELIGIBILITY as motivation. Some teams are mathematically eliminated from bowl game eligibility. Those teams may shut it down for the year, play backups, and look to develop young talent. Teams with 4 and 5 wins need to be watched closely these next few weeks.

Major you are still in spin mode for UF. You cant pick and choose who UFs rivals are when capping. This has to be unbiased. LSU and Auburn? Those are league games, they arent even in the same division as UF. MAYBE LSU. MAYBE. Auburn no way.

UFs rivals are UM, FSU, UGA, and TENN.

And we need to see how they did after they WON those games, not lost them. Big difference here.

Off the top of my head:

1. UF beat UM, went to Tennessee and won 30-6. Probably covered the spread, too. Then again, Tennessee is PUTRID.
2. Beat Tennessee, then came home to play Ole Miss and lost straight up. Ole Miss is very comparable to Vandy in my eyes.
3. Last year UF crushed Tennessee, and won a squeeker vs. Ole Miss the following week by less than a TD.
4. Crushed FSU, then lost to Michigan in a bowl game.

Looking at UFs schedule:
2006 national title year:

Beat Tennesee, then played a relatively close game vs. UK 26-7.
Beat Georgia 21-14, then went to Vandy in this exact situation and won a squeeker 25-19.
Beat FSU, then beat Arkansas in the SEC Title by 10.
In 2005, beat UGA, then squeeked out a win vs. Vandy by 7.

Looks to me, like this is an annual trap game under Meyer, and UF does NOT fair well in let down games after beating a rival. I throw the SEC Title and the Bow Game out as they should have been motivated for those.

I realize FL has more talent this year, but we are trying to see what Meyer's teams state of mind is off big rivarly games - and I see no difference why their state of mind will be any different this year after so much emphasis was placed on that UGA game.

Factor in the road game now, the magnitude of their win last week, 8pm primetime at Vandy. This is a very dangerous game for UF if history shows anything.

Im staying far away. I think Vandy covers this game 75% of the time and I dont want to bet against UF.

Florida losing at home to Ole Miss is worse than Southern Cal losing on the road to Oregon State. Beat Alabama in the SEC Title Game and then your team will get lots of respect around the country.

I wouldn't bet on us. The only teams we beat were FCS teams and Northwestern, who gift wrapped the game for us (+5 turnover ratio).

Granted Wisconsin is awful on the road but we are a dead program on a disappointing season with no QB, no OL, no running game, and a defense that can either be ran all over or dink-and-dunked for 450+ yards.

Iowa came here and won 45-9, Ball State won 42-20, Michigan State 42-29. Wisconsin won 33-3 last year and was up 52-0 last time they came to Indiana before calling off the dogs and giving us 17 points.

There's no way I see this game being close. We've only covered once this year and it was the NW game, a fluke. The numbers look bad and watching the team and knowing the teams the matchup is bad.

I dont know how USC entered the conversation, but let's go with it.

Both losses were bad and they are very difficult to compare.

Blanket logic says Florida lost at home to Ole Miss, USC lost on road to Oreg State.

Looking at this a little deeper says Florida lead 17-7 at halftime, then fumbled twice on unforced handoffs and gave Ole Miss a couple of gift scores (as did Ole Miss) missed a game tying PAT on a busted blocking assignment, and was inches away from converting a 4th down to try to go ahead and win the game anyway.

USC got dominated whistle to whistle at Oreg State. They were trailing 21-0 at halftime, and never had a lead for any moment in that game and can't point to a play or two as game changing.

Both games were trap games after playing high profile games (USC/Ohio State) and Florida playing one of their arch rivals at UT.

I guess my point is, I havent really seen anyone just line up and beat Florida this year for 4 quarters the way USC went out there and lines up and flat out got beat vs. Oreg State. They never really had much of a chance in that game, and they tried to backdoor it late.

At the end of the day, Florida is a completely different team now then they were at the beginning of the year when they lost that gam to Ole Miss. I'm not sure if USC can make that same argument.

Finally, Ole Miss is very underrated nationwide. I think when the NFL Draft is all said and done, there may not be another team in the country that will put out more draft picks and as high of draft picks than Ole Miss will this year on in their trenches. They are a very tough team. The only team that will challenge them in that department is Bama.

Dude - Are you kidding? Auburn is a HUGE rival. You need to go back further than 10 years. We used to play Auburn every year and it's always been a HUGE game.

As for the games I looked at I just looked at big name teams that were in a row.

Like I said in 2006, the offense was horrible, so it's tough to look at the games in the manner you would like to. 07 had no defense. 05 was his first year with no depth and little talent.

I agree that Vandy covers this game 75% of the time - that is why I almost ALWAYS bet Vandy as I have posted on this board before. This is a different year IMO bec UF has both O and D for the first time in Meyer's tenure. Vandy is beaten up, night game not a nooner, Vandy imploding, etc.

I really don't believe I'm being that biased. remember I bet on LSU a month ago so I have no problem betting against UF.
