Well I just got down on my biggest play of the year so far. I will have another one coming up, as long as this one wins.
Nov 20th.... Winky Wright over Sugar Shane Mosley -230
5 units.
I will start by saying that Shane is one of my alltime favorite fighters. He is exciting to watch, will fight anyone and is an extremely physically gifted athlete. Personally I feel that if he stayed at 135, he would prob still be undefeated today, only maybe beaten by Mayweather if they squared off. I Floyd would have prob stunk up the joint in a boring decision, as i doubt he would trade with Shane. Stupid to say what if, so lets get on the real fight coming up.
In the first go round, Mosley took a fight alot of people thought he never should have... Going in, he was a 3-1 favorite, and alot of people were picking him to win, even though most would admit that Wright had the style that could give him trouble, similar to Vernon Forrest who beat Shane back to back in 2002, in dominating fashion. Against Wright, is was the same story, as Shane could not get inside and throw his trademark combos to the body. Winky used his slick boxing skills to outpoint and outbox Mosley over the fight. As someone who didnt bet on the fight, and as a Mosley fan, I could only give Shane 2 rounds, and that was because he kept coming forward.
Now, how many times in boxing history has a man been defeated in convincing fashion, and come back to win the rematch????? I honestly cant think of a fight that comes to mind. Im not talking about a somewhat close decision either. Winky dominated the first fight.
Now how could Shane win this fight. I know its 2 weeks away, but I still havent heard 1 boxing expert talk about how Shane will win this fight. I hate to admit that one of my heros doesnt have a chance, but Mosley doesnt here. He would be a PFP fighter at 135 or 140, and prob 147, but this is 154. He is fighting guys that are too big for him. plain and simple. Last time he has looked good against a top contender was 2000 against Oscar. I picked him in the 2002 rematch, and won money, but I thought Shane looked mentally slow and unconfident, and lost by a point. He did come on strong late, but that was after Oscar stopped throwing because he was tired.
Mike Tyson was another of my hero's and I took Danny Williams because i thought he had a shot, and that the line was way too high. It was sad to see Mike go down that night, but the 800 in my pocket made me feel better.
Shane is another of my heros, and ive studied him and know him very well, albiet from a fans point of view. I will take Winky here, not because he has a shot, but because he will win. Cant pass up a line like this. good luck to all. Feed back is appreciated
