reelsource.com says this is current tracking info:

INCREDIBLES...66 million seems about right... over
BRIDGET 2.....44 million WTF wayyyyy under
SPONGEBOB.....34 million no clue
POLAR.........27 million too early to say
GRUDGE, THE...17 million if this turns out to be the line I am all over the over
RAY...........13 million (tracking improving) I think it will easily go over 13, the line will no doubt be higher than this
SURVING HO-HO.13 million ??
CHUCKY........12 million trailer looks cheesy...
SAW...........10 million way over

EARLY TRACKING:
LEMONY SNICKET...total gross 115 million

coming up this week we've got the Grudge and Surviving X-mas. Even if the tracking holds, I can't see them laying the line at 17. Even though the Ring only opened at 15, it ended up with over 100 million. This movie is going to bring in a ton of Ring fans, who either saw it at the theaters or on DVD. I'm thinking 22 million, at least, probably more, seeing that's it's already #1 on Moviefone. Surviving X-mas, no opinion, really... it looks o.k.

Do you subscribe to reelsource, Oren? They charge a lot of money for a webiste that is wrong most of the time.

lol, yeah I don't know exactly where that information came from, the tracking data, I basically copied and pasted it from a message board. I don't ahve a subscription. Why do you say it's innacurate? I hope they're right about the Grudge tracking, it's going to be easy money this week if the line is that low, assuming we can get in and make a wager before the line gets jacked up to -200. :eatya

The Grudge

Not the smartest thing I've ever done but this movie surely can't break $28 million? I've put GB£131.28 to win GB£109.40.

The Greek's just moved their line on 'under $28 million' to (-120) from (-110).

I want The Grudge to tank. I want anything that could stand in it's way (the World Series, bad weather, anything) to stop those predicted young teens and under 40s in going to see this film.

Most hype sites are predicting it'll be lucky to break $25 million. With 3,245 movie theatres at it's disposal, I'm a little fearful but good luck to whatever you pick.

Hey, can you please tell me where you got that line from?

Try World Sports Exchange (WSEX), Intertops (probably that one as they usually do ranges rather than just over/under) or The Greek/Olympic Sports although you're out of luck today as when it's Friday morning they'll suspend lines.

High twenties for The Grudge, eh? Anything below 28 will do fine, thanks (I'll be stunned if the final figure hits between 25-28. It'd be nice though.).

I'm personally looking for a Friday take of less than US$9 million as I'll feel my weekend will be ruined if it goes above that.

Lines usually go up Thursday afternoon/evening.

I was really biting my nails over Surviving Christmas. It had a large theater count of 2750 plus Ben Affleck attached with the Soprano guy.

But after a long debate with myself, i came to a conclusion that releasing a Christmas movie a week before Halloween is just plain stupid.

You're not the only one biting your nails, Gil.

Reading some of the crowd reports over at Box Office Mojo is scaring the hell out of me (they're predicting $10 million+ figure for The Grudge's Friday take which means it could easily topple $30 million come Sunday night).

Surviving Christmas was always going to be a screwy line what with the total number of extra theatres/screens being added very, very late this weekend but I have sympathy with you fella.

We gotta hope the World Series or anything really takes a big, big chunk out of Saturday's box office takings.

Come on St. Louis and Boston! Distract the fooking film-goers already!

Holy cow...

Grudge did around 15 million last night.

Chistmas around 1.5 million.

These are just estimates, but still.

Drat!

$40 million for The Grudge. $4.5 million for Surviving Christmas. So well done, Gil.

'Everybody' seemed to underestimate The Grudge.
So I lost all the money I won two weeks ago but because of some winning sports bets I'm still up by 80 pennies on my original stake money. Hell, you can't win 'em all but me? I've got to start all over again (damn it, I should have gone with the under for the Ben Affleck movie). :neenee:

....Ray and Saw for Halloween weekend. :umn:
