Purchased my first baseball magazine today. I don't use it for much more than some back ground of prospects and a starting point, but it's a reminder that spring training is right around the corner. Seems like baseball just ended, but i am pretty excited for it to get up and going. When does everybody start to prepare for the season? I will probably hold off until the first week in February.
Last year I realy tried to follow spring training to get a jump on the season and found that most regulars only play 1/2 a game if that. Spring training is for prospects to prove themselves, for established players to go through the motions, get the kinks out, and to try new things. Prospects who have good springs may not even be on the roster when the season starts. Don't get too excited about who does what because managers know who the players are and who will be there when the season starts. Established players with good contracts will not be cut or be heading to the minors. Once the season starts the real show begins.
