Big Tex, I can email you a zip file of a virus remover-but it won't do any good if you can't boot up and stay running in at least Safe Mode.

Another wonderful problem with XP is that you usually need to DISABLE system restore in order to remove the virus\hijack.....which screws you if your machine is really torn up.

Let me know if you want the files emailed to you.

Depends on what you have to transfer it-it's too big for a disk (but will fit on a flash drive).

See if you can stay up in safe mode (hit F8 a few times while booting up).

need to boot into Safe Mode. hit F8 before the windows screen appears. then remove all your spyware. try the zip file sent to you. also try ad-aware, spybot, spywareblaster.

if that doesn't fix it. who knows. you're hard drive could be shot. check to see if you have any bad sectors on your hard drive.

also load cleanup and winpatrol.

This may sound dumb but, which one is the zip file? Win patrol or cleanup?

Thanks for your help.

bigtex,

No question is a dumb question if you don't know the answer.

Neither Winpatrol or Cleanup are zip files. I think you might be referring to the file that TT, is or was going to send you. TT would sent it to you as an email attachment then you would have to unzip-it with Winzip or Winrar, etc. and then run.

Hope this was of some help.

In addition, can I add to your original post. It does not have to be that you were Hijacked / Virus, it can also be a new (regular) software or hardware that was installed on your PC.
